Default Guys With Holley Carb's...

Are ya'll running the 50cc pump on the primary or secondary side, or both? I put one on the primary side with a 0.035" squirter and have drilled out the secondary squirter to 0.037" (so far) and still get a lean pop. BTW, I swapped in a ProForm 750 annular booster body, but haven't gone for a drive yet. Supposed to be worth a ton of torque below 2500 or so...

Have you tried a different (more aggresive) cam for the squirter.
I had the 30cc (with different cam) on a 468 with low 400s hp.

Yeah, I've got brown cams front and back. BTW, do NOT use hole#1 with the brown cam on a 30cc pump, it will bind and stick at WOT. Luckily, I found this on the bench before installing...

i use the green cam in hole #1, 30cc pump-i was fighting a poor rev cond, just sitting there i would give it gas, acted like a miss or bad coil, happened to man. push on the pump same time as i gave it gas, and it was perfect-thats when i knew it needed to be agressive, and swapped in the green can, was like night and day-you also have to have the pump adj. properly

you need a cam that ramps up quick. The #1 hole is suppose to bring the pump on sooner than the #2.

I believe the return spring would pull it back OK, but no sense taking the chance!

I have a "RapidJet" metering block coming for the primary side, when it gets here, I'm gonna swap the 50cc pump to the secondary side.

This was taken from Holley's online catalog: "Accelerator pump shot relative to cam color from lightest to heaviest are as follows. White, Blue, Red, Orange, Black, Green, Pink and Brown. Hole #1 gives quicker longer shot than hole #2."

i had a simular problem on my last sbc, according to holley you are" supposed to" have a gap betwen the squiter arm and the pump, i think it was around .015-.015-.025 but i dont remeber exactly, i tried everything then i tried the pump/arm at zero gap.....walla! perfect....give it a try for giggles...
i'm sure i'll have simular issues in a month when my ls goes in...

I've been told by the guys that make the Rapid Jet kit that brown cams are NOT to be used with the stock (30cc) pump. Don't know if that info came from Holley or from personal experience... I'll prolly still use mine in hole#2 as it works, doesn't bind, and doesn't bottom out the pump override spring.

That gap is measured with the throttle wide open. As youi found out there should be no gap at idle or you get a dead spot.

Holley's web site has tables showing not only the volume of the shot with each cam but how quickly they ramp up.
