Default TH350 to LS3 flexplate adapter help

Someone please explaine how the hell this thing is supposed to work.I have a TCI flexplate to be used on a LS engine with a TH350 trans behind.Ive been reading all this stuff about how if you use the flat flexplate you gotta put the .400" spacer between the crank and the flexplate. If you use the curved flexplate you put the spacer on outside of the flexplate facing twoards the converter.I can see how putting it on the outside of the curved flexpalte would work.Putting it on the inside of the flat flex plate sets the damn thing out past the starter. That obviously is gonna work at all.....is their a special starter thats made for it?Ive got a 6.0 truck starter on it just because I thought about that before I tried putting it together.
