Ls1 sn95 with 4l60e shifter question
Finally finished my ls1 swap today. What I noticed is that my mustang shifter reads PRND21 and the trans is actually PRND321.
When I shift into D, it's actually in 3.
What's going on? What shifter are you mustang guys using???
My set up includes:
02 ls1
1 3/4 351 lt's
3" cutouts
bassani o/r x
borla duals
4k pi stall
shift kit
4.10's
front eibach drag springs
rear steedas
upper/lower granatelli adjustable arms
kyb adj shocks
28" et streets
I'm hoping for some 11's

Stock shifter?
I put a B&M Pro stick in mine. For a 4l60 you would still need to buy the 4 speed gate to get it to work correctly in your application.
Here is a pic as I was doing the install

It should engage D with the stock Mustang shifter. I used the stocker in my build and get all gears. As long as you get D I wouldn't worry too much unless you are running a manual valve body, just let the trans/computer do the shifting.

I made a modified shifter arm and cable bracket for my Thunderbird which uses the same shifter. I only get the D-3-2 so I can't hold first but the stealth look was much more important than the ability to force first gear. Besides, dropping to second works just fine for my needs at 70 MPH.

I drilled out the factory ball on the trans arm and welded a 1/4" bolt in it's place, then on the shifter cable end(which is a long slot) I welded a 1/4" flat washer in the corner of the "slot" and then just simply double nutted it together so the nut can't vibrate loose but isn't tight and binding up the movement of the shifter cable.

Sorry if I'm repeating myself but I think we may be confusing different things. Let me know if it's me and please explain what I've missed.

Guys could you please post some pics of shifter arm/linkage? I'm swapping in 4L80 in place of stick, but shifter assembly is missing and I don't understand how does this all work. I need to make smth. quick , possibly as a temporary solution, but very quick. What other cars/vans could I cannibalise shifter/bracket/linkage from?
