LS1 universal header kit - where to buy, or anyone have one for sale?
I'm getting back to my V90 Volvo project and need to do something to get around the steering column. I'm about to give up on modifiying a set of donor car SLP headers, and start fresh.
Who makes a mild steel kit I could weld myself?
Anybody have a kit, or a half a kit, they want to sell?

Is the basic port spacing the same that the tubes would line up?

Mike,
I ordered the flanges from GM (part number 12480130), they are nice and quite thick. I ordered pipe from Schoenfeld Headers http://www.schoenfeldheaders.com. I bought U’s and J’s and a box of miscellaneous bends, 18 gauge. In a perfect world I’d rather have SS headers but as I haven’t built headers before I thought I try the mild steel first. Turns out I mostly used the miscellaneous bends and still have a buch of the U's and J's left over. They are 1 5/8" tube with lots of surface rust on them. If you're interested,, I could see exactly what I have left.

I ordered this kit as well. I did not realize it's made from alluminized tubing. To get nice welds you need to grind off the finish. Also the collectors are not very well formed. I ended up buying bends from the chassis shop in Mears Mich. Also checkout the donuts there. I bought collectors from Jegs made by Hedman. Very nice. Be sure to order the ones you want. They sell both slip-on and weld on.
I used the alluminized tubes to practice. My boss only uses stainless. I argued that I want to get the headers coated and less than half the cost for the parts. I'm just learning to tig, my boss has been for years and is certified to weld on aircraft and he is Lic NHRA chassis builder.

Yes, pick up a set of used or new headers ($100-150 for the cheap ones) for your Body model. You just cut the flange off.. bolt the LS1 on to the engine, drop in the header.. and then just cut and adjust the tubes to fit as needed. Some of the Fox body guys have do this also.
Oh, BTW, Forgot to post last time, Many have used BBC headers as the spacing is close.. as compared to the SBC/LT1's, the two middle ones are seperated much like a LS1 header. Might only have to do some minor tube adjustments.
