Default S-10/Vega frame swap

Hey, I tried this same swap on my hatchback. shortened the frame to 97.25 and ended up with the frame kick-ups hitting the door openings. Completely eliminated the back seat & sat like a 4x4. Long story short, it now has a 2x3 tube frame under it. Will be doing a 4.8 or 5.3 swap, so keep the pic's coming.

Are you posting this over on V8monza.com?

Sorry for the late reply my internet has been off for a while, stupid wildblue. This has proven to be quite the project. It is not an easy swap for sure. I am not on V8monza. com

I have a few updates for you all. Not much but I did get some 2" drop spindles on and got the brakes hooked up and working. I also started working on the headers and did not like the way it was working out. I made the choice to go with a turbo setup instead. Started making the truck manifolds where they will work. Now I am trying to get the radiator support and alternator bracket made. Here are a few pictures of progress so far.

Default vega wagon

I just ran across this thread. had to say, like the wagon. I'm building a 72 GT vega Hatch back. 5.3 aluminum LS with a 5 spd. I like the full frame idea. especially since your body had cancer. Mine is too nice to cut up, so i'm going what will ultimatley be the hard way. Stuffing all this into a Vega surround and then adding support and frame ties etc....
Very nice work, cant wait to see more.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I appreciate the complements. I have been busy trying to get other thing out of the shop, but I should have more time to work on this now.

Hey there everyone I am back with a little update. Things are still going really slow on this project. I don't have the extra money to throw at it but I am trying to chip away a little at a time.
I have made motor mounts and installed a manual steering rack from an '80 Fairmont. I also bought a Vic. Jr. intake and a pair of 57mm. turbos and have them mocked up. I traded the truck pan for an f-body pan and have redone the mounts for the rack and moved it up a little above the cross member. Here are a few pics.

Wow it has been a long time. I have finally gotten some money together and started ordering parts. I have pulled the steering rack and narrowed it 4". I have also cut the front frame rails off and am building 2x3 rectangle tube front rails to make more room for a radiator.
I have purchased the Holley hp EFI computer and wiring harness. I also have the Holley twin billet fuel pump and matching filters. I got a pair of precision 39mm wastegates and a tt intercooler with tubing on the way. Also got all the exhaust stuff coming.
I am going to order a power glide trans. from PTC along with one of their 10" converters as soon as I figure out a cam for the 5.3. I will get some new pictures up when i get some of the stuff done.
I need build an elbow the fit the edelbrock intake.
I hope to have it running and driving by spring time.
