Default headlight problems

ok guys,need a little help.just bought a 01 bird and sometimes the passesnger side headlight fails to open.i can usually turn them on and off several times and it will finally open.any suggestions on what it is and how to fix it?

its that cheap plastic gear that GM used, you need to replace that

probably not posted in the right forum, but If the headlight motors are anything like the 97 that I have, to make the headlight go all the way open and all the way closed, it uses less than half that plastic gear, which means if you take that plastic gear out and rotate it around to where there are still good teeth on it (about 180 degrees) you just doubled the life of that gear, and it costs you nothing. I did it to mine and it worked great!
