Default Fuel pump ground?

Im slowly wiring up my swap and Im working on the fuel pump. Its a 5.3 motor and harness. Should I wire the fuel pump ground to the frame like the factory harness, or send it all the way to the front of the car and the battery? This isn't a high performance build, just my jeep.

If you have a GOOD batt to chassis ground, and are sure that:
1. The wire is heavy enough, and has good crimps on the ends.
2. The connection point is CLEAN.
3. The batt - is grounded well to the chassis.

To be sure, just check the neg side of the pump for voltage while it's running...Should be 0.

+1 You should be good as long as the battery to frame ground is done right (bare metal) as Geezer said..

Right now its the factory fuel pump wiring, Gray for the 12V from the relay, and the factory ground wire.

It will be clean bare metal with a toothed lock washer and white lithium grease.

Do yourself a favor and run a ground wire back to the main harness. That way you will never have to worry about a spot weld rusting out and causing the pump to run on half voltage. Just how much work is it going to be to run that extra wire compared to how much time it will take, maybe a dozen years from now, troubleshooting a low fuel pressure issue?

When in comes to chassis grounds just say no.

The girl scouts are still here. I'm getting another beer anyway.
