Default What to get for exhaust?

I have an LQ9 with a biggger cam. This will be a mostly weekend cruise car. I would like to be able have a conversation while driving. I don't want something real loud, mild & not wild. What type & size exhaust would be good, and what kind of mufflers?
I have the exhaust from my previous set up, but I think they may not even be 2". Is it worth it to go up to 2.5 or 3 "?
Thanks for any input

Hey there...my guess is you are putting it on your Nova. That being said, go with a 2.5" xpipe Magnaflow exhaust...you won't be disappointed. Sounds fantastic and is not too loud.

PM me for some more info...

Dave

ive got a 6.0 with a bigger cam, ive got dual 3in into 40series Flows and dumps, its a little too loud for my liking as a street car. It sounds amazing when i rev it or when getting on it to make a point.

But i too am going to downsize the muffler to 2.5 and go over the rear end and dump behind the rear end, maybe magnaflow or a summit muffler, i hear those are good.

go with 2.5 for sure but dont get a magnaflow X pipe they are useless
you should buy a t304 SS X pipe from Beaudacious Fabrication that will actually make power

74Novacustom, that sounds great. I may want a little quieter for mine, but yours does sound really good.

74nova's sounds great in person, that vid doesn't do it justice. i was pleasantly surprised w/ the 40s, though 2.5" would be better. pypes makes a surprisingly quiet muffler in the race pro. some feel mine w/ 3" is too quiet, though i like it.

I have a mostly stock LS2 in my '67 Bird.
It had 2.5" pipes with a x-pipe and 40 series flowmasters. Loved it with the Pontiac motor. Not so much after the swap.
I just switched just the mufflers to magnaflows.
I wanted more a throaty deep tone. the magnaflows do that perfectly, but they are a little to quiet for my taste...at least from inside the car.
The wife is too scared to really get on it while I listen from the curb, LOL.
So for now I really like the Magnaflows.

Dave, I have to agree. The wife & I were just out in the car today, and we had no problem conversing while cruising, whether around town or on the highway. Our car does have sound dampening on the floors & firewall.
The Magnaflow has a nice tone when you get into it.
