I've got a pieced together kit from www.intakehoses.com. It's a 4" rubber to the 4" pipe and then a reducing 90 degree elbow down to a 3.5" pipe which connects to my 85mm MAF then to an autozone Spectre filter. You can see it in my build thread somewhere around here, ill post a picture when I get to a computer.

I just fit the MAF onto the throttle body and a generic 4" cone filter onto the MAF for now. Probably piece together some PVC or something equally cheap and redneck at some point.

here are a few pictures of what I am doing at the moment. I am also building a lid with a clear plastic cover so you can see the filter. It will also have an opening through the radiator support into the box for cold air.

I bought the spectre intake for trucks/suvs. Filter is a bit big but works pretty well. Think it was $150 off the shelf at one of the parts stores...bought it quick because I thought my car was almost done...5 months ago lol

Okay so maybe not cold air setups. Just intake setups in general. Just looking for intake setups.
Also can you list the parts that you bought and where you bought them?

Well like cherry said intake hoses.com has some good stuff that I have bought as well as summit racing. It all depend on where you want to run it and how you want it to look. When I have my pipe where I want it I have to have a shop bend a 4" aluminum pipe so I can weld my MAF bung to it!

That was my thought. Seems like using flex would be the easiest to route and would let you place the filter wherever you wanted for the most temp. benefit. Just doesn't get the same reaction as a handmade, TIG welded CAI pipe.
With the budget I'm on, I think I have some extra dryer vent tube laying around and some hose clamps. Might get it done this weekend. Either that or make some sort of shield to get the hot radiator air deflected under the filter I have. These 170° intake temps are really killing the performance...

This is a cut and paste from another thread I posted on Cheap CAI ideas but also relevent since mine is a G-Body.. (86 Monte SS)
I used a piece of ABS plastic to create a separation from the engine area and the nose of the car..
While the ABS gave some support to the Aluminum end, It needed more, so I added a bracket, that cant be seen, because its bolted on the under side of the aluminum tubing down to the car.
Used this place for the aluminum tubing, rubber hose and clamps..
http://www.intakehoses.com/
Bought the air filter from Autozone..
I was happy with the end result... Was cheaper than say Mandrel bent tubing but certainly not the cheapest.. But its durable enough and will last long enough to justify the expense....
