Default T56 electrical connections required in 71 A-body?

Getting ready to install my T56 in my 71 Cutlass (w/2010 LY6 & E38 ECU)and I have a VSS connector that will be connected directly to my electronic speedometer. Question is what else do I need? AKNOVAMAN did my wiring harness and supplied the VSS that won't hook into my ECU. However, I think I need to get the reverse lockout connector hooked into my brake switch:

and the backup lights connector into the chassis wiring harness:

Don't think I need CAGS or anything else.

Thoughts?

Also, Do you guys just bring the wiring thru the shifter hole?

There are four connectors on the T56.. 1) VSS, 2) Reverse Lockout, 3) Reverse Light switch and the 4) CAGS

You do not need any of them to start and drive.. they just make life easier.

VSS as you did, but should also be connected to the ECM. .but not needed. Mine is not.

Reverse Lockout. help to engage without slamming the shifter. I just use a Line Lock switch. other use the ECM (but need the clutch/brake switchs)

Reverse light. .I wire it up to the Chevelle backup light wiring .. it is just a switch as your column or floor shifter would turn on..

CAGS.. not needed.

just wire it anyway you want.

Fyi, on both my conversions I had stalling problems without VSS hooked to the ecu. Pretty common problem. Adding VSS cured it.

The VSS that AKNOVAMAN supplied me already has the terminals to plug into the ECU, so I could do that pretty easily (if I can find an E38 pin connection diagram to tell me where to put it!) but I seem to recall there is an issue of taking the signal off of the VSS if its going to the ECU to supply your electronic speedometer.

Gary, how did you feed your speedometer w/signal? Or is yours still mechanical w/your 4speed?

I'm running mechanical.
The ecu has an electronic speedo output too.
The VSS picks up 17 or 40 pulses per driveshaft revolution, that translates to about 100k pulses per mile (or somewhere around there, I forget). The ecu lowers that to a value that should work with aftermarket speedos.
Btw, by using a VSS thru the ecu, you'll be able to keep the DBW cruise control.
