1936 Chevrolet Low Cab LS1 build
I just realized I hadnt started a build thread so I have a lot to throw in here. Its been quite a while since I've worked on it. In fact, its been under a car cover for the last 3 years while I restored my son's 65 El Camino. And yes, I'll be doing a LSX retrofit for him in the future.
Anyway, here goes.
This is how it all started. A decent body without drive train.

And here we have the start of the frame. Installed the Ultra Ride IFS from Street Rod Engineering, frame brace from Progressive Automotive, boxed the frame and set up for CPP power brakes.

Installed Dana 44 IRS from 85 Covette. Used adjustable strut rod and camber rods from Vette Brakes and Products built to my needed lengths. Rear track width narrowed quite a bit from factory. Also used Progressive Automotives coil spring relocate kit. Putting them on next week. Almost forgot, Denny's made the half shafts.

Thanks Jimmy. I'm equally amazed with the work any of you guys are doing on your cars. Today I found the thread on the guy in Memphis area (I guess) that installed the LS1 Vette combo in the Honda Civic. LOL's. Amazing. Lot of patience and time went into that build as I'm sure does in everyones builds. Hats of to all of you!!!

Forgot to add front suspension pic. I'm hiding the sway bars in the spreader bar on the front and rear. Using NASCAR/Nextel style bars from Speedway Engineering. The rear was a breeze but the front arms are going to be reeaal short so I have to use their thinnest bar. Hopefully it will be close enough. Have a set of Longacre scales on thier way on loan from a fella in Kansas. Then I'll be able to get everything set dead on.

Had made a tank (very large capacity) with an in tank Walbro 250 from Tanks Inc but cant stand loosing my bed. So this is getting scratched in favor of 64 Mustang fuel tank with twin Walbro 250's from same said company. I'll be adding a Magnuson later.

And finally more related to this site. The LS1 is out of an 01 WS6. I used the Covette donut style mounts. Factory harness shortened. PCM reconfig'd. Making my own headers because shorties wont do for me. Leaving the engine as is for now until its driving. Then it'll be getting a Maggie on a safe tune until I get tired of the power. Then I'll be changing in favor of a built stroker LSX. My son will get the present power train for his 65 El Camino.

And a few of the body as it sits at present time. Next week I'm getting back on the headers and putting that new TIG to work. Also on the list, finish up forward mount coilovers on the IRS, mount new column (the existing column out a 70 Chevy van was just too long), mounting transcooler stainless hoses, and so much more.

Ha ha. Thanks. I dont know about talented. Maybe just persistent as heck!
I'm wanting to do the same on a 32 deuce with an LS7 some day. There is a fella on another site (Ken Thurm) that has done one and his build is incredible. I've got a lot of great info from his build as well as a few on this site. Stu Cool to name one.

And I suppose a pic of myself cant hurt. Always like to put a face to a name. Guess I'm a bit old school. And I cant ignore my best helper, my son. A chip off the ole block so to speak.
I'm the young fella in the t shirt....honest!

I'm still a little stuck on the water pump. Not much room between the pulley and fan. Was considering drilling and tapping the top most portion of the pump and relocating the outlet. I'm going with AN hoses to clean everything up. I'd go straight up with hose bending at a 90 toward radiator. What confuses me the most is that to match the LS outlet/inlet size which is 1 1/2 and 1 1/4" I'd use a -24AN and -20AN but good luck with the -24AN size. So that leaves me with 20/20 or 20/16. What do guys suggest? I want to stay with the mechanical pump. If my mod works out I may buy an Edelbrock for more flow and modifying it the same way.
