LS1 conversion questions for 96 z28
Due to what I believe was a leaking fuel injector, I snapped a rod and put it through the side of my 96 LT1 on startup. In replacing the motor I decided to upgrade and buy a 2000 LS1 motor matching T56 tranny. I wanted to keep my body because I like the way it looks, it only has 66,000 miles on it and we already have a 2002 z28 (auto tho). Right now everything is stock but I do want to do LTs, y pipe and cat back in the near future once the car is running (crossing my fingers that it will). Most likely TSP headers and Y-Pipe (not sure if I want a catless/catted) with a Magnaflow catback. Does anyone know if I will have any clearance or fitment issues because of the older body?
Also I’m looking to get to 350ish rwhp. What boltons, if possible, would get me there the fastest and does anyone know of any places I can get my car dyno tuned near NYC?
And btw sorry for the long post just trying to give as much info as possible

Tune Time in Lakewood, NJ does a lot of our dyno work. He has used our harnesses on a few LT1 to LS1/LS3 swaps in the past. Give Matt a call at 7323417800.

I think you will need the 98 and up k-member or an aftermarket equivalent, and the 98 and up steering rack. I'm not sure about the fuel lines and stuff but I know those two things will need to be changed.

You can re-use the stock LT1 return style fuel lines if you buy a return style fuel rail from a '97-'98 Corvette. You will need an LS1 k-member (stock or aftermarket) and T56 crossmember for an LT1 car (stock or aftermarket) if you don't already have one. The TSP headers and y-pipe will fit with no problem. The TSP y-pipe is a little long so you might need to trim down the I-pipe that comes with the Magnaflow cat-back. Speartech can modify the stock LS1 harness for plug-n-play into your LT1 car for around $500.
