6.0 Gen3 70 Chevelle
New to this site and looking for information and input. I just picked up a 70 Chevelle project car, rough but pretty soild, no engine or trans. thinking about a 2005 6.0l with the edelbrock intake and MSD timing controller carbed with a 700r4 non electronic. Any major hurdles to overcome? Stock 2500 oil pan?

Lots of valuable info in the stickies. My humble opinion would be to stick with the fuel injection. I believe that you will ultimately spend less and get more out of the swap. My combination is very similar to yours. I am happy to share any information.
Spend plenty of time setting a plan and stay on the course, don't get discouraged by small setbacks, we have all had them. You will get plenty of help here.

As others have stated check out the other chevelle builds on here. there is a wealth of information and option to decide on.
As to the oil pan the stock one is not going to work without modifying something. Easy/best solution is something like the Mast Swap pan or the Autokraft pan. I used the Autokraft on my 66 chevelle.
I too would vote for sticking with FI. The cost will be about the same but you end up with a more reliable and efficient car if you plan to drive it much. The benefit of the carb is mainly that it is a hair more simple and comfortable for people that are not used to working with the injection and electrical components.

Definatly stick with fuel injection.... stay away from 700r4.... check out my build thread. I did about the same thing you are doing, I have a ton of money in a 700r4 and I love it as long as it works, but rebuilding it every 6 months sux ***!!!

There is tons of info in the conversion thread section.
If you want to go carbureted, don't be scared by the nay sayers. Just visit the carbed section. The people there are great and they will help you with any of your questions.
For the transmission, I prefer and have the TH200-4R. It is more durable than the Th700 type transmissions.

Good luck with the build! post up some pictures, lets see what your working with! truck pan fits but it hangs down way too low and you'll be sure to have ground clearance issues. my opinion is also to stay with the fuel injection. but its your car you build it how you want it! your more than welcome to check out my build if you want!

Start with craigslist and just search every few days in the places close enough for you to drive. Look for people parting out cars or selling motor/trans sets. Post on local car forums and finally just go to ebay if you get into a time crunch and are willing to pay more to not have to keep an eye on craigslist or spend the time calling local junk yards/ pull a parts
