GTO dash in chevelle
Finally got all the gto dash parts for a swap. Before I take out the Chevelle dash I want make shure I can make the GTO cluster work with a LS1 PCM. All I really care for is tach, speedometer, and temp. The rest would be nice. YES I did research heres some links I read up on
https://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...ng-pinout.html
Has anyone made one work?
Also couldn't figure out what year the cluster came out of but I was told is a 6speed heres a pic if anyone can tell me what year it is that would be great.

On my chevelle I'm doing the same thing. But in a effort to make it easier as far as overall wiring goes. I am transplanting the complete car harness dash column and all into my chevelle so it's all plug and play.
It has been my experience that when you start mixing and matching especially on the engine electronics and interfacing into interior electronics that's where it becomes really sketchy. It becomes that way because depending on the pcm and the platform its programmed for the pcm sends out different info over the data bus.
The most bullet proof way to make it work if doing it in a piece by piece manner. Is to use a pcm programmed for a gto and make sure the year of the pcm and the cluster are the same.

I do know that the 2004 gto cluster is the one you need as that was the only GTO year model that came with a ls1, the 2005, 2006 GTO cluster are for ls2 with a totally different PCM (E40) One note though there is only 1 part number for each cluster in their respective year, wether it is auto or standard it is the same part number, I am not sure if the programming is in the cluster itself or the PCM that can make it read correctly for either auto or standard.

I found a column for $75 with a key I plan on making it work like a old style turn over key, (no vats) if I have to ill put a old GM key in the key hole.

I pulled the trigger early and said F*it, started cutting metal and dash is almost in. Stay tuned for a build thread I'm gonna make soon. I have enough pics to make you bored.

I got my paws on a rolled over 06 at auction and I am working on putting complete harness and every last module from the gto in the chevelle. The complete harness front to rear and left to right including functioning airbags and antilock brakes are goin in a 70 my brother and I are building.
We aren't close to working on wiring yet still working on fitting powertrain and then body and paint.

Nice. If you plan on installing the complete GTO dash I would consider tryna get it in before paint and especially windshield install. Im glad I did after the stuff I found, you will also be cutting allot of metal away to make it fit.

Anyone have any answers to my original post? Will the LS1 Tac wire run the GTO tac? What about the pcm VSS will it run the speedo? my t56 is out of a gto so don't know if that helps with the VSS sensor in the trani.

A little update:
Chevelle dash is completely gone and cut away. I started trimming the GTO dash to fit the contour/ curve of the chevelle windshield. Yesterday I got a hold of a goat steering wheel and column with a matching key, so ill be installing that today. Now ill have a tilt and sliding column. I will replace the steering wheel so thats gonna go up on the market soon. The gauges project is still where I left off. (I haven't worked much on it since my last post) ill post pics and update more in the following days.

Finally got all my dash mocked up and in. Wasn't easy, a lot of fitting and cutting, over and over. But I'm happy with it. Now going to make the door panels from the GTO ones so everything flows together. I tried uploading a pic thru my phone but it won't let me. Ill upload some later today. Figuring out the harness is going to be another nightmare.
