Default 91 notchback s480 6.0 foxbody build

I know theres a **** ton of these swap threads but figured I would go ahead and make one for myself so I can keep up with my own progress and have a place to ask questions at.

So I picked this car up outta texas about a month or so ago. Havent really started work on the actual car yet but I have started acquiring parts for the build.

Those are some pics that the guy I bought it from had taken. Havent really had a chance to even mess with the car yet.

I new this turbo was going to be pretty good sized but wow it was even bigger than I had expected!!

And my cam thanks to Martin@tick performance!

I ended up going with the megasquirt ms3x to control the engine. Ive only played around in tunerstudio just a small amount while running some test on the ecu but so far it seems pretty legit. Has tons of options for inputs and outputs. Just gotta figure out how to use them.

Theres a lot that goes into building one of these! But it was a pretty cool experience. It was really my first run at soldering anything like this so it was definitely a learning experience.

I should be getting the rest of my parts for the engine at the first of the week. Then I can start getting it put together so I can drop it in. Also Im going to be running a th400 trans with circle ds billet convertor. Its in the process of being built. Once the motor and trans are finished I will get started on the wiring situation which should be interesting to say the least.

Been slowly getting some parts in. Got all my gaskets, oil pump, timing chain and head studs. Hopefully I can at least get the short block together this weekend.

I'll be following along with yours as well!

Got my valve springs in today

Also got the motor all tore down and everything looked great! Didn't get any pics but I will snap a few tomorrow. While I have it all apart I think I'm going to go ahead and put a set of ls2 rods and pistons in it. Need to have them resized but I figure it will be cheap insurance for now since they are a bit stronger than the factory 02 rods.

Tomorrow the plan is to get all of the wiring pulled so I can start the long process of redoing all the wiring which I am in no way looking forward to....

You are braver than I with that wiring haha I'm sending my harness to BP Automotive to get it reworked. I've heard good things about him.

Well luckily have a buddy that's really good at electrical **** cause there aint no way in hell I would attempt that **** alone! We are gonna eliminate as much unnecessary wiring as possible and upgrade the wiring in the areas where it will be need (ie fuel pump and what not)

Didn't get a whole lot done tonight. Got the dash out and started getting a game plan on the wiring.

And the motor that I got tore down last night.....

I have a spare complete 5.3 I'm going to try and get put in tomorrow so I can get started on the engine wiring while I wait for the bearings to come in for the 6.0.

It was actually already done when I got the car but I'm assuming it's just the rattle can spray on undercoating you can get at most parts stores

Here's the only thing I could find wrong with this motor. One of the exhaust valves had the edge broken off. Couldn't find where it hit a piston or anything so I'm assuming it went out the exhaust.

Got them both disassembled and ready to be cleaned up

Also got some more parts in! Got my vband clamps and flex pipe in.

Haven't really been able to get a whole lot done here lately. Been working some crazy hours. But I did pick up my transmission about a week ago.

I'm still waiting to get my heads back from getting a valve job but I had another motor to use for mock up in the mean time

And I got it all dropped in the car.....

And that's how she sits now. Still got to adjust the motor a bit but at least something is there that I can work with.

Still been working some crazy hrs so haven't really gotten a whole lot done. Still trying to get the trans set correctly and build the trans crossmember. Should hopefully have some better updates soon.
