Porsche Cayman + LS3
Thought you guys would be interested in seeing some pictures from my friends latest project. He is building a track Cayman with an LS3 engine. The initial stage of this build will feature a wet sump and factory Cayman S transmission. Later on it will evolve to a dry sump and sequential transmission among other upgrades.
2007 Cayman S with a blown motor meet LS3 + Kennedy Adapter + factory transmission:
Half of the original block next to the LS3 for comparison:
After test fitting the LS3 a dozen times I decided the "normal" install position that most folks use is just not that great. The CVs are pushed back about 4" from stock, you have to run an electric water pump and options for drysumps are limited. Also the front of the motor sits a couple inches low.

excellent project! I had been noodling on something similar.
So you will flip the intake to face rearwards?
Is the '07 S a 6 speed?
Is there an electric water pump conversion you can use to shorten the length of the package? Your comments suggest you'll use the normal water pump? If so, did you lose leg room or does the seat still go all the way back?
Is the transaxle in the stock location?
On first glance, the crossmember for the mounts seemed rather small in crossection, but it appears you know what you are doing.
look forward to updates!

Man, takes some pretty serious cannolis to cut up a car like that. My compliments. The Cayman has to be one of the all time best body styles ever made. I love those cars.
Have to agree with the guys above. Flip the intake and consider an electric WP. Or at least a Truck one with the water outlet on the top then machine it down to keep the vette belt spacing.

Quarter Master 7.25" dual disk clutch with LS3 Button Flywheel. I decided to go this approach so I could reuse the clutch (with $200 worth of new disks spline for GM) when I go with the Quaife Sequential box. The whole package is 1/2 the price of the KEP clutch. Strong and lighter too. ~2" thick spacer to get proper engagement with the factory transmission.
