Default Trans wont shift into GEAR. Shifter not wired correctly? HELP!

This is a 4L60E from a 98 Camero.

So i just swapped an LS1 into my 94 T/A and it wont shift. I run thru the gears and nothing, almost as if it was not hooked up. My original transmission was a 4L60E but it has a PROFORMANCE button hooked up, my new tranny dose not. Could not hooking this buttom up be causing my problem? Also i noticed that the shift silnoid on the shifter was getting really hot? could i have wired my harness wrong?

Any help is appriciated its my daily driver that been sitting in my garage for 3 months now.

Default Trans problems

Don't know about your wiring but the first thing that comes to mind is fluid level. You didn't mention if you had checked that. Sorry, starting with the simple things first.

If it was low enough to cause shifting issues, it would most likely have problems just moving. If you lost less than a qt. It shouldn't cause any problem.
I have see them keep moving with 2+ qt low (not an good condition).

Your shifter wiring should have no effect on whether the car will move or not. It will affect your idle or if your car can start in any gear but park or neutral which is not a good thing

Well it starts and runs fine but when I shift nothing happens. Almost as I f it were not connected. I gotta lift I and check undernieth, I hope its a simple fix.

Before I swapped I was able to shift fine. I don't understand what's wrong. I am 99% complete with my swap. This is frustrating. Thanks for the input guys.

Even if none of the wiring is hooked up the trans should still move the car. If nothing is hooked to the trans you should still have reverse and putting it in drive will default to 3rd gear. You can manually shift through the gears with the shifter. So if you have no gear engagement at all it is not a wiring issue, it is a transmission issue. Start with fluid, then maybe check the torque converter engagement and bolts.

Ill check the fluid tommarow, i think its been leaking from the dip stick stube at the bottom. I dont think it could be mechanical, before the swap i drove the doner car up to my garage fine. i dunno what to try next. i hope this works. Thanks for the info man.

Check the converter is properly engaging on the pump drive?

Did you pull the converter in/out? Incorrect installation of the converter can break the pump drive.

Or it could be as already said, low fluid.

This, or a shifter or shifter linkage issue.
