Haha. That's what a friend of mine wants me to do. I'd really like to keep it a sleeper as much as possible.

At the moment it seems like I may succeed with a quiet exhaust.

Old downpipe idea was scratched, New one is developed. All tacked welded right now.

Updates from a while back to now.

I wanted to run dual mufflers but space is a little tight as the car has cutouts in the bumper for dual exhaust.

I tig'd up the front half the other day and today I started fabricating the rest. Right now it's held by strings and painters tape.

So no duals then?
[/quote]

I ran out of bends and pipe else I may have done it. I do have another bumper with only 1 cutout. But Im not sure yet as im still trying to stick with a sleeper status if I can contrary to what Jarod says.

I have 3/4 of the new brakes lines in as of last night. I broke a fitting of the caliper in which is a hard to find part. It's a 1/8" npt to m10-1 bubble flare 90 elbow.. Wtf.. That took a little to find.

Ordered bulkhead fittings to finish up the front passenger side brake line. It will be ran behind the dash along the firewall and back out next to the master cyl.

I also started researching the many different factory gm ecu programs to find one that best suits my needs. Found one from an 05? Avalanche w/5.3 that will allow me to run a speed density, 3 bar map, Drive by wire Throttle body, along with flex fuel.

Yes, that's right. I'm going flex fuel now. I figured why limit myself. This way I can run e85 but the ecu will account for improper mixtures and unleaded if needed.

Gm flex fuel sensor. 3 wire hook up and works with the ecu. It will be inline on the return line.

Brakes. They suck.

I had 3/4 of the brake lines done a little while back and pondered how I was going to get the front passenger side line to the master cylinder. One thing i did not want was some ugly line being visible across the firewall. I Looked at a lot of different solutions and went with -3an 90* bulkhead fittings. The line will be behind the dash and hopefully will never leak, I hope and I pray anyways.

This fitting is between the brake and gas pedal. Good thing my son still has small hands to be able to get to this stuff. All I have left is to make the line along the firewall and ill be able to bleed them.

Picked up a used Parker roto-flair tool to flare the lines at 37*. This tool is very nice, I would highly recommend it if you need one.

A few weeks ago i got the Brakes lines done and remote reservoirs are mounted. They only need filled and bled.

Today I Started working on the fuel lines. I thought I had enough line to run everything but wound up short for the return line and needed 1 more fitting. The needed parts are on order along with the rest of the parts for the cooling system. Next up will be wiring and then I should be able to start it up.

Figure I'd throw a few updates out.

Fuel lines are ran and radiator hoses are made. Only one more line from radiator to corrado coolant reservoir and the cooling system is done.

Power steering lines are made.

QTP electric cutout was installed this afternoon. Figured a 3" routed to the back would cause quite a bit of back pressure. What better way to let it breathe.

Getting the oldest broken in so he has experience pulling his bug apart.

Interior wiring pulled and laid out.

Love your build. Realized now I never subscribed, so I've missed some updates.

One thought on the trans cooler. If one fitting is not higher (the outlet) I would question if the cooler will remain with a significant amount of air trapped within. I don't think it will operate as efficiently that way.

Its a non issue, trans cooler operates under pressure.

Nice.

If you need any Vw related wiring info check out www.a2resource.com.

Corrados are CE2 so the electrical stuff is super easy

Don't want to enter in to a pi$$ing contest or derail this killer build thread but will point out..... trans cooler manufacturers make the same recommendation: http://www.carid.com/images//bm/cool...user-guide.pdf

The way I think about it... pressure will not drag trapped air out of the top of a cooler. It will pressurize it so the amount of trapped air will occupy a smaller volume within a cooler.

And to your point, the effect may be so nominal it doesn't matter. I don't know. Just wanted to offer what I think is best practice.

MORE IMPORTANTLY: I look forward to some video of this awesome project running full spool at WOT, doing a tire-shredding burnout or similar !!

AWESOME!... i came here to post up my build, and this caught my eye when scrolling. Corrado is not my favorite, but i do like them (i had a 91 GTI w/turbo ABA16v), and would be my first choice for a build like this. with the look, and flares, etc it is just begging for a LS1 swap really.

really cool your son seems into the build too. keep the dreams alive, get the kids hooked young! lol.

Agree with Dustin on involving the kids! I have a 4 and 8 y/o. They come with me to the car shows. They also help me work on my projects. I hope it sticks!
