Pretty common to find dana, gm, etc gears in a yukon box. Yukon does alot of buying and reboxing stuff into their own boxes, dont worry though dana gears are some of the best out there.

Ok so I got home late Friday night . A bit of jet leg . woke up and hung out with my wife ,went for a walk to debrief the past month, went to good old Costco , picked up some TRI TIP !! for a family dinner.
Oh I even conviced the old lady to stop by the ktm dealer. She's been talking about dirt bike riding .so Im going to try and ease her into it. Bless her hart she think it's going to be easy like riding quads lol. ( she says , I want it to have lots of power and I want to hit jumps.) lol . I Had her sit on a ktm 105 sx .. She was all smiles . More to follow on that later.
Ok some pics I promised before .

Ok so I snaged this of ebay $30
A lot cheaper than AA or novack , plus factory is alway better if you ask me
(Tcase adapter np231 to 4l60e)

An other pic

So pic is upside down but here is the part#
Their are several different versions of this all with a bit differnt clocking. This seemed to be the flattest one of the bunch

Ok so the start of the rear bumper trying to keep the KISS method in play
3/16 mild steel hitch / d rings tabs

D ring tags , used my cop saw and then drilled them out . This are weld on front and back of bumper/ they go through

More d ring pics

Bumper

Bumper brackets , I welded plates in the center for strengthening

Pics of inter plates

More pics of the same
BTW I re drilled all the holes to 9/16

The bumper should look for the most part line this , just need to put a 1/8" plate steet across the top to cover everything, oh and weld in the hitch.

This is the D44 I got before my trip with the weak 2.73 gears. Who does that?
OX LOCKER and 4.88 are going in ! Btw does any body have some 5 on 5 1/2 dana 44 front hubs their are interested in selling or trading

I also made some brakets to weld to the frame that mount up to the back of the bumper mounting plate, I'm on the fence or not if I'm going to use them. But that mount plate for the bumper on the back of the frame doesn't really inspire confidence in any real weight .

Shifting gears back to the engine. So while I was gone my brother made and engine stand for the 5.3 . Plan is get it running on the stand with smog equipment and all then do transplant.

Might have to add one more wheel in the center but we will see.

Ok I'm at a cross road and need some input.
On my work bench I have a 5 bolt np231c HD/ 6bolt np231j
I have factory adapters for both .
I need vss,
Do I buy JB conversion short SYE for the Chevy np231 with vss, then deal with speedo problems?(getting factory jeep speedo to work from Chevy PCM )/low range
Or do I buy AA 6 bolt to 4 bolt adapter with built In vss, and swap SYE from my existing 231, the price diff up front is $40 this will be the easiest . But I don't like the idea of running two adapters on top of each other.

This is buggin me!!!

I agonized over that one too,I was originally going to try to run the gauges off the Jeep ECU,so bought a TerraFlex SYE with Jeep VSS,Dakota Digital box and built a 231 Chevy/Jeep Hybrid TC.Then I read more and decided to turf the Jeep gauges since success seemed to be hit and miss, with more misses and grief than hits. With the Jeep three wire VSS,I'm going to try a pull up resistor and capacitor trick I saw on here a while back to feed the LS PCM with a sine wave signal,if that doesn't work I'll give the Dakota box a try, should have the Jeep ready for a spin this weekend.

My yj is a 91 so the gauges should be on their own separate from the PCM .
I haven't verified this yet but will today.
I have read the same thing and Dakota digital/ makeing gauges work can be hit or miss,
With that said my jeep has a mech speedo so if I keep my existing SYE and make hybrid case I can keep it and all my gauges . Or do I just go a NP 241 and make is work with JB conversion SYE with vss and deal with gauges later.
Oh and not to forget if I use the AA 6 bolt to 4 bolt adapter I'm kinda stuck with the factory S10 5 bolt clocking. With the np231c with np231j back half. I'm going to crack that thing open today and hope for 6 pinion planetarys

Picture updates to follow

Inline 6 out . A bit dirty

This might be after I pressure washed it and painted the firewall

My 5.3 in the back of my buddy's truck.
I know I should have a truck. And will after this next year , depending on how work goes it with eaither be a old Chevy with 5.3 swap or a old cummins diesel pre 2003

Hard to tell in this pic but after swapping in the fsj Dana 44 my drag link was behind my tie rod , this was bad so I got the MORE 1" steering box relocation bracket. What better time to install . More to follow on that the waggy pitman is a bit to long , I'll have to get something from pick n pull

Here it is after realization looks way better but the pitman is turned in this pic making it look like their is less interference than their will be

The corvette manifolds are supposed to clear from what I read.
They definatly do not on my jeep.
Sense this was a major point of research for me I will do my best to document this. I'm going to make it work. I have a plan. I'll let you know if it's worth a damn

Have you tried your truck manifolds? Lots said they wouldn't work on a TJ,but I had no issues with them but I do have about a two inch body lift and my own mounts.

I did try the truck Mannies. They fit with a little interference on the driver side.
But as far as running dual cats, I think it would have been much harder with the truck Mannies .
So I made the vett Mannies work
