1970 Bug Mid Engine - Assembly Time (Auto-x videos posted)

It's looks like the Bug fired off before the new year! Yes you heard right. The Bug is up and running! It has a nice choppy idle and blower whine at idle. What more could you ask for? And yes the engine is nice and quiet. No odd noises and good oil pressure. It also fires and idles on its own with my base tune I set up. Video will be posted soon!

Let's hope the rest of the car just flies together. I am ready to drive it now that I have heard it run! I am honestly just happy it runs. The engine is just such a crazy combo of parts, I am happy it all worked out. It sounds good, fires and idles on its own, and has 70 psi oil pressure. What more can I ask for?

Thanks for the comments guy! I am currently trying to finish welding in the coolant tubes in. After that I can put the floor back in. After the floor is in, I will do all the coolant plumbing. After that, I will move on to the fuel system and gas tank welding. Then on to wiring! After wiring, on to suspension and steering reassembly. Then driving and tuning. My list keeps getting shorter and shorter...

The coolant tubes have been welded and the frame painted. It is ready for the floor to go back on! I ran out of paint so didn't quite get everything under the dash painted.

The floor is back in! There was a lot of notching that had to be done for the cage provisions. Not fun at all. I also had to make more notches for some my lower harness mounts. More of not fun. But it is in! I put rubber in between the floor and frame to keep everything from rattling. It sounds solid.

Slowly getting there. All rear arms are painted. Shocks are out getting internal limiter and bump stops. I am at the point where I am getting the alignment somewhat close so that I can bolt everything else up and move on.
Test fitting to make sure I get the correct wheel base. I have about and inch of adjustment front to rear, so I need to get it perfect!

Still no final decision on body color. I am going to prime it white and do black wheels first. If it looks good, white it is. If I don't like it, I am going to paint it black with green wheels
