Default V6 /LS1 swap tip

one of the guys in my car club swapped an LS1 into a '98 V6 camaro. everything looked the same but he ran across a snag: the steering shaft coupler was too short to reach the rack& pinion . looked up the P/N for a replacement rack , it stated was the same ,it ISN"T. I still had the rack on the K-member from the LS1/T56 i bought for my vert and we did a comparision with his V6 rack , the angle is different on the steering shaft and the shaft on the LS1 rack is about an inch closer to the left side than the center. this might help some of you guys keep from tearing your hair out trying to figure out what you did wrong , you didn't . hope this helps.

Magnus did a swap into a 97 Firebird last year and he's running a LS1 rack and steering linkage.

this particular car was a '98 Camaro, the steering column would not bolt up , no way , no how. he is using headers also so that may have been a factor. just thought it might help save somebody so headaches.
