4L60E / 700R4 dimensional differences
I accidentally posted this question in the intro section. Sorry about that.
I have a 1991 700R4 transmission from a 4.3V6 S10 truck that I want to connect to a 4.8 LR4 crate engine. The 4.8 has a standard 2002 truck automatic trans flywheel on it. A friend told me that all that is needed is to elongate the converter bolt holes in the flywheel a little, then bolt it all together. This looks very easy to do. Another person told me the center hub on the torque converter, which fits tightly into the rear of the crankshaft, is larger on a LS1 family engine. If that is the case, can I just use a newer 4L60E converter in the older 700R4 trans? I always thought the two transmissions were pretty much I denticle on the outside, but the newer 4L60E was electronically shifted, etc. Any insight would be appreciated. Here is my truck with the engine sitting in it with no transmission. TIA - Mike V

I purchased these kits from Advance Adaptors for my 700r4 to 5.3. They come with the flywheel and bolts, centering hub, manifold spacers, and tv cable (kick down cable).

I also had to modify the inspection cover to fit.
