Default LS1/T56 swap Mustang track time and dyno

Well, had a helluva time getting the car to the track only to be rained out after one pass! And to make matters worse the 1/4 lights weren't functioning so we only got an 1/8 pass. 2.02 60'...8.01 @ 91 mph. 4000 rpm launch and 1st wasn't too useful, but when I got it into 2nd it stuck nice and I was off. Engine is a stock 2001 LS1 with a cold air setup and 1 3/4" headers, no tune as of yet. Dynoed 331/329 in 93* heat. Would've like to try shifting higher and working down the 60' but alas the rain ruined the fun.

that sucks that you didn't get to play with it more. that's moving in the 1/8 for being stock with a 2.02 60'. i'm hoping to get my car together before the tracks close but not too sure if that's going to happen yet. if i do, as broke as i am i wont be able to afford a gear swap so i'll be running out of gear with the 4.56's i had for the t56. but it will at least give me a base line and hopefully my first ever 10 sec pass! i also wont be able to do a roll bar until next year so i may only have 1 pass to get it done.

did you happen to weight your car? just curious. everyone tells me mines really light for a full interior car even with poly buckets. i've been taking more out the last 2 weeks without cutting anything up and hoping to get it down to 2650 after the th350 swap, with power everything, stock tank, full exhaust, p/s & p/b too, etc.

keep us posted when you get back to the track again. good luck!

I am hoping to get my car tuned and to the track in the next week or so. I have an ls1 with a p1sc-1 with 8lb's of boost and a 50shot of nitrous and a th400 going to 8.8rear with 4:11's in it. I will take it for some 8th mile passes just to see how it hooks...I will let you know how I do but thats a good start for for the first pass...

Hey y'all! Thanks for the encouragement, I'm confident that it should see 11.90's and probably around 115 mph as-is, I ran that when I had a h/c 302 (329/328 @ the wheels) with less power under the curve than this LS1 makes stock.

With an aluminum headed SBF 347 (carb'd w/ alternator and elec water pump only), T5 and the following: No A/C, P/S, manual windows, no radio or speakers, 6 point chomoly cage, Weld Draglites, and 1/4 tank of fuel the car weighed 2890 w/ me in it (I'm 200 lbs)...I would hope the LS1 lessened that number but I haven't had a chance to weigh it yet. I forgot to mention the rear is 3.73's.

The clutch works far better than I'd imagined, considering it was my first time around fabricating anything other than an excuse for being late to work lol. It's a wilwood universal master (same bore/stroke as GM unit) with T-Bird turbocoupe pedals, and a fabbed heavy duty steel bracket that holds the master in place in the firewall; also a Macleod clutch line w/ quick disconnect and LS7 clutch rounds it out. It shifts easier than my cable-operated T5 setup, much to my surprise. No pedal sticking to the floor or any of that ****...you can rip it through the gears with ease

I picked up a MS4 cam kit for it but I'm waiting on the funds to tune it after the fact....can't have it running like crap now can we

that's a Very nice weight there! thanks for posting up. and that cam is supposed to be pretty wicked and may be enough to get low 11/high 10 slips. pretty sweet for a basic setup! are you gonna keep the 3.73's or go a bit steeper since you have dbl OD?

I'm definitely itching to swap to 4.10's. I'm thinking I might upgrade the rear end all at once and do it then. I've been pushing my luck with this one, I've gone as fast as 10.60s and with various other combinations running slower over the years I'm surprised it hasn't broken yet. I guess the light weight of the car helps the parts to live
