Default 5.3 What is this sensor and can I lose it?


What is this sensor and can I lose it? If so what functions will I lose and how do you plug the intake?

Not sure what your refering to in the pic but if your talking about the hose that is the very front of the intake it looks like some EGR stuff to me.

If it is EGR, you can get rid of it but the codes should be tuned out and yes you need the correct plugs and block off plates.

It is the sensor that has the burnt looking hose leading to it. Where would I get the block off plates?

A quick search on google turned this up. Should be the same thing. Looks like it anyway.

Edit: I elected to remove the link because I do not know if they are a sponsor or not. however a search for "EGR block off plate" should yield similar results.

That is the EGR valve. You can remove it, just delete the codes out of the computer. To plug the hole in the intake you can use the GM blockoff plate (pictured in the link above) or some guys are using the rubber expandable freeze plugs.
