Default 460le trans park position question

does the 460le need to have 12v going to it inorder to put it into park? I'm asking this because I bought a pullout engine combo still on the pallet and when I manually turn the shifter input shaft on the trans I am one click short of having enough dentents. Is this because park is locked out due to not be wired up? I'm trying to reuse my column shift and need to have it in park when I adjust and align mechanism.

try turning the output shaft a little while trying to put it into park. you might be in between detents preventing the parking pawl from engaging

No, the 4l60e should shift into all gears (including park) without any power. You should be able to grab the shifter shaft and go through P R N OD D 2 1

thanks guys, it took both turning the shaft and trying a LITTLE harder. see's locking now and clicking in all 6. Appreciate the knowledge.
Thanks again
