Any body putting a Ls1 into a 67-70 impala
I am dropping in a 6.0 lq4/4l80 into my 68 convert. I have already switched over to the f-body oil pan and when i did the steering center lands right in the middle of the oil pan. The Lq4 oil pan hangs to low. And the problem is that on my 68 the steering component are behind the engine cradle. The center link neeeds to be 2 inches lower then everything would work fine. Thanks for any suggestions.

What are you using for mounts? The f body pan is one of the worst for rear stear conversions and will either need to be modified for the steering linkage clearance or you can purchase a after market pan such as this:

Or you may try the lh8 pan....

I got the mounts from your shop about 3-4 months ago ($39.95). And the after market pans don't clear either. On the pan you have the sump would need to start further back. The 12 inch section would need to be 14"11/16 and the 9"11/16 inch sump section would need to be 7 inches. Thanks though

I have an LQ9 in my 70 Impala. It is a rear steer car. I am using TransDapt engine mount adapters. I use the LQ9 oil pan which had to be cut quite a bit, for 2 reasons: hitting the center link and hanging too low. I had the oil pick up tube modified too.
To maintain capacity, I made some sort of "wings" on each side of the pan (which required moving the oil filter): I now have about 7 quarts of oil in the pan.

Thanks for the info. I will look into that method! The only place that I was able to find that would modify a cast alum oil pan, only wanted to do an f-body pan. Everyone in Detroit acts as if they are scared of welding cast alum. Where do i find transdapt mounts?

To save money on the shop time, I bought sheet aluminium and cut all the pieces needed, brought the whole thing taped together and the shop only had to do the actual welding.

I have used 2ng Gen Camaro Big Block Hooker headers, welded on the LS1 header flange sold by GMPP. I did not do it myself, the same shop that did the oil pan did it for me, so I do not know the exact amount of work involved but the headers are quite close, they did not need to cut any pipe, for instance.
Only one primary pipe needed to be notched for a spark plug clearance. The same shop also welded bungs for the O2 sensors close to the end of the headers.
Plenty of space on the passenger side (I actually dropped the header on the floor), rather tight on the driver side.
By the way, make sure you put thread sealant on the header bolts because it seems on some LS engine heads, the bolt holes open into the water jackets. It is already annoying enough to start these bolts without having to do it twice!!
I would love to post some pictures but last I have tried to do it from my camera, LS1Tech told me my file was too big to even post one picture: so now, I do not know how to do it anymore (and no, I am not good with a computer...).

Thanks for the info. What about the GM Performance Parts oil pan Kit. I haven't compared the two dimensions yet to see how much of a difference there is.
Did anyone else have to add more to their motor mount adaptor plates to get the engine up more for clearance like I saw in KWHIZZ's build thread?

I have a 70 Impala two door HT that is in the paint shop. Ride tech is installed, Big Wilwoods also.
Hopefully, I will be installing an LS this winter. I was thinking an LSX454 but have yet to finalize...
