Default '04 LQ4 from van and harness/ecm from '02 truck. Any issues?

Hey everyone...

I found a nice deal on a complete low mileage LQ4 from an '04 van, but I guess the harness was screwed up in the wreck. I am thinking about having the yard give me an ECM/Harness from an '02 Silverado with an LQ4.

This is going into my 81 Malibu with a T56. I am planning on re-working the harness myself and tuning probably with HPTuners. I plan on going with a cable driven TB/Intake, so that wont be an issue.

Anyone see any issues with using the '02 harness/ecm with this '04 motor instead?

Thanks.

You may run in to electronic throttle body controls vs. cable by switching up.
Just make sure that the harness you get is for the same kind of TB as your engine, either cable or ETC.

Thanks for the reply. Righto about the TB. I am planning to switch to a drive by cable now anyway, so im not expecting issues there.

Anyone else think of anything I might be overlooking?

Shoudl actually work out better since the 02 will have the IAC and TPS wires already in it.

IAC and TPS are present on both the 04 engine and the 02 harness. I would just bump the pinouts for the 02 truck and 04 van together to make sure everything is the same. I should know this information becasue I did it, but I dont remeber exactly, it was awhile ago.

Cool, thanks for the replies guys.

70Nova,

The car weighed 3280 without me in it with an aluminum headed SBC, glass bumpers, steel hood, full interior, etc. Ill be documenting the swap as best I can for sure!
