Default 2005 GTO alternator options

I'm finally getting back to work on my single turbo GTO build and I need to relocate the alternator to the passenger side. I have the proper brackets and the stock alternator is too big and the back post hits the oil fill tube. Now I had a spare 05 6L truck alternator and the size of it is perfect (smaller) and it doesn't have the back post on the case. The issue is that it is 4 wire and the GTO is 2 wire. After a lot of reading I have learned that that there may be a chance that a newer truck alternator or a 2010 cts-v alternator will work and be plug and play. Can anyone confirm for me that there is another alternator that will plug and play and have the voltage controlled by the pcm like my stock unit. Thanks!!!

Not sure if this will help you or not, but this is the setup that I'm running and it works well. The alternator setup is from Hawks Third Gen and I have my own spring tensioner setup on the driver's head. I'm working on fitting a GTO ProCharger kit on my car currently and have to redo my accessories. I may sell this setup if it would work for you.

Thanks but I have a relocate bracket already and I'm looking for an alternator that will work with my 05 GTO pcm without throwing a code etc.

I could run a long set of booster cables behind me to charge your battery......

Maybe some more info? You say you have a GTO? New GTO? Classic GTO? What ECU?

If your new GTO had a 2 wire alternator, that means it is PWM controlled. I don't know what year the change happened from the 4 pin connector, but it probably varied by model.

I suggest looking on Rockauto.com. They will have pictures of alternators from various vehicles and you can see which is a 2 wire and which one is 4 wire.

Here is a 2009 CTSV alternator:

Looks like it is 2 pin...
