Default how much do I need for a clean c5???

ok guys, as some of you may know, I am selling my trans am and my performance parts to buy a corvette c5. I am asking $8500 firm for my car and I should have around $9k - 9.5k after I sell the car and my performance parts.

so here is my question.... how much would I need to save up to afford a clean c5 with around say 70k - 80k miles wit a 6 speed? I am thinking anywhere from $12k - $14? am I in the right range here? I am a 19 year old college student so it would take me a while to save up to $14k (parents are not rich so I work and pay for what I want) so anything more would be nice but out of the question. im in Florida if that makes a difference in price range. thanks

Clean C5's can be had for 14-18000. Check out CF C5 section as new listings show up daily.

Got my 02 Z06 for $19.5 in near mint condition on HREs with 28K on the clock.

You can find really good deals right now. It's a buyer's market.

Yeah, that's for damn sure. I've got two AMAZING cars for sale, and can't get any positive feed back other then "man, that's too expensive."

I've bought and sold 17 beautiful cars and never had the issues I'm having now.

You should be able to find plenty in your price range. I bought mine last june with 28.5k miles on it for 22. Its was in absolutely pristine condition.

C5 Base models low mileage and 6 spd. 12k-15k
C5 FRC 6 spd. 13k-17k
C5 Z06 18k-23k

IMO, I wouldn't have one other than an FRC or a Z06. Also, interior options can make a difference, i.e. mod-red interior.

Bingo! Exactly what you can expect price-wise.

And I agree. The FRC look is unbeatable IMO. That's why I have a Z06.

I wanted a frc but at the time the pricing was about the same as the one I got now but the milage was tripled to what was on my car. If I wouldve waited I probably couldve gotten pretty much the same car cheaper. But at the time the economy wasnt as fucked up. Like they said before its a buyers market right now might as well take advantage of it while you can.

A lot of people say this and I just don't get it. My C5 Targa was cheaper and with the cam and longtubes will run past any ZO6 out there with the top off!

That has nothing to do with what I said... Any car can be made to go faster. LS1 vs. LS6 is a draw because they're the same displacement, so of course it comes down to cam or heads or intake or whatever... My point was that you can't beat the LOOKS of an FRC. They simply look better in my opinion. The coupe has better aerodynamics than an FRC so long as the top is on, but it's worse than an FRCs with the top off. Either way, my point was about looks, not speed.

And by the way, same cam, LTs and tune on a Z06 and you'll be running door to door... You're not going to blow away every Z06 out there. That was a pretty bold statement.

By know means did I mean every ZO6. To be honest, I love how they look too. When I was in the market to buy a vette, I wanted a ZO6 to begin with. Then looking deeper into it, since I can't keep anything stock anyways I knew the heads and cam would be getting done anyways. Saving the 4-5K up front just made more sense to me to give room for fun mods. The intake is the same on both so unless you want to go with a FAST, it isn't necessary as long as you buy a 01-04 C5. I do think ZO6s do look meaner IMO too, but I do love the Targa in nice Chicago weather. TransAmCoupe layed out pricing perfectly by the way!

I agree take your time a-lot of car to be had at a good price now. If you are going to really mod the c5 down the road look at a auto trans in the car.

I just bought my 01 vette for $17K. It had 52K on the clock and was in great condition. If you're in florida, look up fpmotorcars.com. Brandon is a hell of a guy and he goes to all the florida auctions looking for customer requests. Visit his site and give him a call. Tell him Kyle Copeland sent you and he'll happily hook you up!

I paid 23K for my 03 Z with 60k 2 years ago. A year later the car could have been bought for 20-21k. Now, the car can be had for 17-19k. These cars just have not hit bottem yet.
