Default c5 vette tune?

me and my tuner were missing with my tune the other day and tried running the car on speed density to see what would happen only to find out that with the MAF not working the TB also shuts off. So does anyone here have a vette running on speed density? just curious by the way.

Did you set the MAF fail frequency to 0Hz and disable the SES lights (not the codes completely) for MAF codes P0101, P0102, P0103? The only time I have had the MAF kick on reduced power mode was when I neglected to disable the SES for the listed codes.

I've run speed density when I was getting my short term fuel trims dialed in using what what mentioned in post #2.

Gotta set the maf to zero and set the corresponding codes to "3" (do not report) in hptuners.

On a naturally aspirated car the main advantage is you don't have to dial in the MAF after you've finished the SD tune. It eliminates another variable. The MAF is supposed to be more precise at higher RPM. Whether it's more hassle or equates to more power or better driveability is debatable. I plan on tuning the MAF, but others opt not to.

When you go F.I. I've only seen multi bar SD recommended. But judging from your sig we're talking N.A. here.

If you exceed your VE disable RPM with the maf failed, the car can go into reduced power mode. I learned this a few weeks ago.

I don't think you will gain anything going with a speed density tune over your current one. SD is just easier to tune IMO since as mentioned it takes the MAF out of the equation and allows you to run a straight pipe from the filter to the throttle body for a little less restriction.
