I must be getting old. Insurance question.
Dammit man. I used to talk about street racing, now i'm trying to figure out the best way to insure a 33yr old with a 12 year old modified Corvette. Before it didn't matter, now, the car is used less, and now it matters. Mostly to my pockets,...and primarily the green in them. I need to get the car on the street, like, within the next two weeks, and started thinking about a collector car insurance. I used to have progressive on the vette with an additonal $20 or $30K added to whatever the car was worth book value. I don't remember what I paid for it truthfully but, I don't remember it being too much.
The car won't be out too much but it will be out. Curious to what you all are using, and how you use, or how often you use your vettes or like yeared vehicles. Your input would be appreciated. For reference, Hagerty's basic online quote, quoted me @ $1,407.00 per year. Is that good? Thats like $117 a month but don't hold me to it. Anywho, thanks in advance for your input.

I have Progessive and I pay like $65/mo. It's not my primary car and I have a pretty good record (not clean, but good). I drive it to work a couple times a week and mix in casual / weekend driving when the weather's nice. Definitely worthwhile to shop around for quotes as they vary so widely; I went to an independent broker and they found Progressive the best bang for my buck. Oh and I was 24 when I bought my Z06 so I was pretty surprised at how cheap rates were for a car like this. Keep us updated with what you find.

Thanks guys.
I called progressive today, or my progressive agent that I setup with my truck, she told me, I pay right now $147.00 for my truck, they would add my vette, for an additional $226.89 , making it like $374.00 a month for the car and truck, for an additional $1,134.00 per year I think, I could insure the vette. $250 deductible
Or
$1,009.00 increase per year for a $500 deductible. Making monthly payments $349.00...but, I am looking, or trying to look at the info the girl gave me but,...I don't see the additional ADD on for money for the modifications I wanted to add on,...in other words,..say the value of the car in good condition is $15k,...I wanted to add on the dollar figure that was actually in the vehicle. So incase the car was stolen, I don't want to get a check for 15k, I want it for the actual cash value that I insure it for.
I need to look at fine print, and then maybe call this chick back tomorrow. Hoping to have it insured by Monday.

Depending on your record of course and other things listed on your policy 227 a month is pretty high.
I have an altima and 01 z06 my total is 180 a month. I have to carry 100, 300 100 limits for my job also.

I was doing well without tickets,...for years,..then I got a few, good ones, back to back like I won a prize. Not to bad, maybe 3, one is a no proof of insurance, a 90 in a 70, and another speeding one, kike 80 something in a 70 or so. So, I am guessing thats bad. That, or its a good policy...which I will look further into. Thanks for your input.

Try Geico, Mines 350$ for 6 months; 100/300 liability, towing and repair, Rental reimbursement, and 500$ deductible. Driving record is clean though. No tickets last 10 years, and I'm 30 years old.

I have Hagerty on my Z28, $20k declared value for $550 a year. I am going to go away from it though I think because the policy stipulates parades and car shows only. I like to drive it to work on nice days once in a while, or head out just for a cruise...so it is limiting.

I go through safeco. $70 a month full coverage with $500 deductable. Also have my 05 saturn redline on thats $55 a month full coverage with a $500 deductable. im 25, single, no tickets in the last 5 years.
Vette is a secondary car with no mileage cap. But I just have a stock value FRC which is probably 12-15k. not an extra 20-30k value on top.

USAA here and my 02 runs me 400 a yr full coverage. I'm 10 yrs older than you too but still. Hagerty would be the better option I'd think. Hopefully I'll switch the Camaro over to that later this yr and have it covered w/ a value of 60K. We'll see how much I'm raked over the coals for that. LOL

Wow, thanks for replies and insight. So many different prices everyone pays. Looks like I'm paying, or about to pay more then everyone on this deal. Guessing my record is worse then I think maybe? ****. I need to do more homework before I do this it looks like.

The price your paying also has to do with your credit. If you have shitty credit then your likely a shitty driver (in the insurance company's eyes). If you take care of your credit, pay your credit cards on time, never get too far into debt, then they believe you are likely to care more about driving better.
Some insurance companies may differ with how they calculate risk, but if your credit isn't so hot it might be the reason you pay a lot.
I pay 1200/year for full coverage on '02 SS and my '08 SRT8. The value on replacement of the Camaro is actual value including mods. I just have to keep receipts and pics of car.
