Default Rear Carrier Differences?

Is there a difference in the 2.73 Getrag carrier, as opposed to the 3.42?

thanks paul. got it.

Just for those purusing this thread.

2.73 and 3.15 carriers are smaller and less durable than the getrag 3.42 and 3.73 units.

Installing aftermarket ring and pinions would likely be an issue in these.

Thanks guys, I've was thinking of buying a used 3.15 to have for a possible gear swap. I guess I'll save my money.

Every gear set that Getrag makes for the C5 is different, even the 3.73 housing is differnt than the OEM gear boxes.

That is why I am afraid of the 3.90 gears that are on the market, as they are designed to go into a housing (3.42?) that Getrag says is too small.

This is from a friend of mine that works in Getrag, here in NC.
