Default New C6 owner with a question

I traded my 2004 GTO in on a 2007 C6 6speed Corvette. I thought on the 6 speeds you had to shift from 1 - 4? My car doesn't prompt me to to do this during normal driving. Is there a certain driving mode I have to be in?

Not sure if the C6's are setup the same way that the C5's are; on the C5's, you'll be forced to do a 1-4 shift when driving very economically, as if in traffic. You won't be promted to do the 1-4 shift when you're accelerating fairly heavily, or revving high. This can be bypassed/deleted though.

Again, though, not too sure if it's the same in the C6's???

Is this a brand new car or used? Perhaps you were lucky enough to buy a car with CAGS already eliminated.

Nope, this is a brand new car. The salesman told me is had something to do with the rpm's. When I drive it normally the 1-4 light doesn't come on.

No, even the F-bodies have had this feature since the LT1 days. Maybe you're not revving it high enough under casual driving to trigger the CAGS...I'm not sure.

It will shift from 1-4 only if you are under 2500 rpm... I could be off by a few 100rpm but I had my tuned out back in spring of '05 after having the car a few months.

If you hate it that much, you can either buy and install the eliminator (easy), or have it tuned out... Do you have any mods?

I called the dealorship, there is 4 criteria to make it work. It turns out I wasn't driving slow enough. Time to order the skip shift elimanator!
