Went To The Corvette Museum ***LOTS OF PICS***
My work paid for a trip to the Corvette Museum and to the Corvette Assembly plant!
The best part about the trip is that I saw the 2nd and 3rd ZR1 made(pre-production -they didn't allow cameras in the plant... but I will say that the #2 ZR1 is yellow with chrome wheels and #3 is red with chrome wheels) the brakes on that car... to die for.
***************************
Ok... the tour starts here:
Rolling up to the Museum:
When you walk in you see this car up for a raffle (I put in $10 for a ticket)
The initial line up when you walk in... towards the end are cars that are ready to be "museum delivered"
1953
1963 Split Window (Perfect paint, with ultra rare early Knock-off wheels)
1973 454 (Above Average Condion, but not perfect)
The ONLY 1983 Corvette on Earth
1983 Vin Number

#2
Zora Duntov's personal 1974 -454 (Last year for the big block, the prototype rims didn't come out for another couple of years on production cars)
Vintage Gas Sign behind a 1956 (Look at the Cost of Fuel)
1959
Rare Cadillac Pearl on a Corvette (1962)
Fuelie 327 cutaway engine/tranny
265ci engine (notice the lack of an oil filter- that was an option in 1955) with a 350 in the background

#3
(2) different LT1 GenII cutaway engines (notice one has a clear optispark)
LT5 Cutaway
Katech C5R engine
The world's fastest (Bonneville Salt Flats) production Corvette happens to have started life as a 1984 Crossfire (a dog of an engine)
Record Setting LT5 Race Car
Crash Tested Prototype C5 (crashed at 35 mph)
1963 Zo6 (one of 199 ever built, mostly delivered to race teams)
The base of the big red spire visible from the interstate
Inside the Red Spire is a tribute to Dale Earnhardt (lots of memorabilia)

#4
1971 LT1 (not in perfect condition)
1978 Silver Anny Edition (very nice)
1978 Pace Car
1982 Collector's Edition (the only C3 with a hatchback that pops open)
Pre-Production 1989 ZR-1
1988 25th Anny (with a bettery tender cable visible)
Prototype ZR1 "Purple Crush" (A research between GM and PPG into having custom colors on production cars)
Pre-production/Prototype LT-4 Grandsport
ULTRA RARE (and one of my favorite cars in the whole place) ZR-1 Spyder (not a Callaway)
Almost unheard of 2004 Pace Car
2005 Pace Car
2007 Pace Car
The 1,000,000th Corvette made is a White/Red/White LT1
This last shot is of the "Corvette Nursery" Cars awaiting their new owners lucky enough to get the museum delivery.... although after seeing the assembly plant one hour later, I'd want the "plant delivery," you get to see your car being made.

I have been there at least ten times! Of course I am in Nashville which is only a 45 minute shoot up 65, maybe a little quicker sometimes haha. I am going in May who all will be there?
