Default New Best Cam-Only 10.8@122

Took advantage of the cooler air last night and ran a new best. Off the footbrake (2500-2700rpm) the best I could pull was a 1.49 60' If I could get the transbrake to hook I think it would go low 1.4's. Nothing has changed with the car same old bolt-ons, T-Rex, 4.10 gear, 26" ET Drags, AOD/GM manual shift tranny, and 3260-3270 raceweight. Shocks were set at 1 in front, 60/40 rear and slicks at 16 psi hot.

I don't think the car is going to do much better without figuring out how to get more power out of it (377 rwhp unlocked). I might be able to pick up a little 60' / ET if I can get the transbrake to hook, but the power/mph just isn't there

Car # 443 DA was -157 & -164 on those 2 runs.

^Why lol??? Replace the junk rear with anything respectable, throw in a cam/full exhaust & a good tranny/conv/clutch and all our cars are "capable" of this.

Nice ET OP. Very impressive for the power. Seems like most cam onlys are hitting closer to 400 nowadays. Youre right, youve prolly got about as much out of that set up as you can. Still VERY respectable.

Capability doesn't mean anything... because in reality there are VERY few that actually run 10's cam only in respect to how many run low 12's to mid 11's. Average joe racer has heads and cam and runs mid 11's...

You have to have your stuff figured out, an no loose ends in order to do it. Are alot of our cars capable of it? Maybe... but thats besides the point.. Thats just bench racing..

But 377 unlocked.. doesn't sounds bad to me at all.. that should be 400+ locked...

I didn't take any vids that night. It should 60' better than that, but I can't get it to hook off the transbrake. I have tried a few times and it hits so violant the tires blow off and the car goes sideways even on a sticky track. Tranny has a 2.84 first gear and the TB stalls to 5100.

Looks like you have a good handle on stuff... maybe a ported FAST/SD tune/90mm lid?

Opps forgot to add the 90 mm lid. I had a SD tune and hated it. It wouldn't let the engine adjust for cooler temps so it would run the same times in -DA as it would in +2500 DA and the car made the same power so I put the MAF back on.

Spohn 1" rear sway bar

you need to get rid of this in favor of a drag bar...there is a big difference between the two, i tried the exact same bar too and could not get it to hook either, best 60ft was high 1.4s…I would seriously think of getting rid of that it isn’t much better than stock…

also I saw you are running 26” tall slicks, might want try some 28” tall slick or 28” drag radials too, they have made me a lot more consistent…

I would try the drag bar first…

Thanks. I will try the drag bar. Which drag bar did you go with?
I was actually running 28 ET Drags before, but I thought the rolling resistance with my low HP was slowing me down. I can hook the 26's by footbraking, but on the TB they don't stand a chance. I'm putting the 28's back on this week and trying the TB again.
