track day results
We had a good day with cars we took out to the track for 1 last day of racing.
1st : My dad's 01 Z/28 / A4
Strange 12 bolt w/ 3.42
FLT Level 3 w/ Yank SS4000
04 GTO LS6 shortblock / 11.1 comp
APE 6.0 heads ..got them from Z8's who got them from BradWS6
SI6 cam 235/240
Hooker LT's w/ ORY
DMH cutout ( open for pass )
90/90 ..mild porting on intake
SLP Lid
SLP UP
Chrs1313 Ram Air
Qa1 fronts
Comp Engineering rears
Spohn 1" rear sway bar
Welds wheels with 275/60/15 M/T radials and 195 cheap front radials
minor weight reduction :
-front sway bar
-front bumper support
-A/C ( HVAC box still in place )
-spare and jack
keep in mind it has a 12bolt, SFC's, LCA's for a little added weight over stock
The car was weighed before on scales at 3710 with my father in the car. We did have pass. seat and rear seats out yesterday and my brother driving., so rough race weight of 3600#'s
10.95@122 w/ 1.46 60ft
...wish we would have sprayed it yesterday as it has been 10.4@130 when it runs 11.4@118. The track would probably not have held anyway.
2nd car: customers 97 Camaro Z/28 / A4
This car is 100% full weight including A/C.
stock short block / 12.1 comp
SI ported stock heads / intake
LE cam 236/242 .592/.592 109 LSA
58MM TB
Pacesetter LT's w/ ORY
DMH custout ( open for pass )
Moroso CAI
ASP UP
stock 10 bolt w/ 3.23
stock 4L60E w/ Yank PT4000
stock 16" wheels with 255/50/16 M/T radials
11.76@115.8 w/ 1.66 60ft
The 60ft should be better, but the car did not want to stall high on foot brake and was pushing through.
3rd car: my 97 Z/28 / A4
Strange S60 w/ 3.73
FLT Level 4 w/ Yank SS4000
SI 396cu / 12.4:1 comp
SI stock ported heads/intake
LE H/R 245/253 107 lsa
58MM TB
Nitrous Outlet LT1 Specific Plate kit
Nitrous Outlet dedicated ( battery area )
1 3/4 to 1 7/8 LPP stepped headers / ORY / 4" bullet w/ dump
SI CAI ..over the radiator
UMI K-member/ a-arms
Strange / Qa1 shocks
Spohn torque arm
BMR Xtreme drag bar
Billet Street Lites w/ 275/60/15 M/T Radials
10.66@126 w/ 1.39 60ft NA
I knew the track would not be as good as Byron ( reg. track ) so I put the 100 jets in and put the window switch to 4300 to test.
10.14@133 w / 1.37 60ft ...been going 1.32-1.34
I was also going 133 previously on the 150 jet.
I then tried to lower the window switch to 4100 and the track would not hold. I went back around raised the window switch to 4600 and went another 10.14@132 w/ 1.37 60ft
for some reason I wanted to try the 150 shot and well knowing the track was iffy, but I went to just get a 9.99 this year... 0 traction on both attempts and aborted the runs
The air got cooler around 3p.m, so I grabbed a customer which runs 10.8x and I left my nitrous tune in for a fun heads up race. I spun badly to a 1.69 60ft and went 11.10 @ 124.9 MPH which is huge mph for my nitrous tune having 10 degrees pulled.
race weight was around 3300#'s
We had a 98 T/A / A4 with 98 ported heads, 92/92 ( ported), SI5 cam, LT's, PT4200, Chrs1313 ram air that went 11.1@122 w/1.49 60ft, 17" Zr1 wheels with 275 M/T tires
( has some weight reduction )
air was around + 100 to 350 for the day

I have not had time to check the camera. The ride home flying past the traffic with our cars was fun...who says you can't go 70+ and make your way through the slower traffic with what looks to be a race car.
you and my dad put a smile on my face. The guy is like a little kid again and I love that he enjoys his ride.
glad you made it out

Sounds like you guys had a good time Larry. I wish I wouldn't have put the car away for the winter. Hey Rob, what did you run, any new PBs? Next year we'll have to meet up and run the cars then unhook the tow vehicles and run them too.

Darren it was a good day & if it had the Byron bite some more new bests would have been posted.
The H/C LT1 was not able to brake stall more then 2500 I think and might be due to a brake booster issue or lack of vac. with cam. I need to check it for him to determine why. I know the Yanks like to be brake stalled to get the most from them...I give the brake pedal a working at the line

Sweet, what are your plans for the TBSS. I have an IEATSRT8 cai, Magnaflow CB, tune, and a Pcmforless transcooler on mine right now. I also have Stainless Works LTs with a catted y-pipe waiting to go on. No time with it now but I'm shooting for 13s next year.

thanks guys
2010 should be a good year and hopefully have better luck at the 9sec slip
good track, new tires ( current set shot ) , fresh trans with upgrades, revised SS4000 and maybe a progressive controller
let me know what you need for those DD's
