Default 1st time at track results, please step in

as most know, i have a 98 trans am. major mods are: 6.0L, PRC 2.5 5.3L heads, torquer v2 cam, 85mm intake, A4 built trans, 3600 stall, MT ET streets, QA1 rear shocks and bolt on suspension, 3360lb race weight (with me in it with helmet and such).

was running a consistent 7.7 @ 90mph w/ 1.7 sixty foot. 4/5 of my runs were pretty much this exact time. im kind of disappointed with the times. my tuner and i were expecting at least a 7.4. we are going to get together soon and figure out whats going on, and i need to get around to installing the front shocks and hooking up the nitrous.

any body have any ideas what would lead to the poopy times or 60'?

I'd be more upset about your poopy mph. What was the DA?

Is 3360 your correct weight?
Has the car been dyno tuned or street tuned?
What is your total timing? should be between 25-29 roughly.
Is the car seeing any knock and causing it to pull timing on the hit? It appears that it is hooiking decent but never really winding up.
What are your shift points?
What was DA? You can find it easily at dragtimes.com under tools.
Is the tranny fresh? maybe slipping?
btw - video is useless for tuning purposes.

car should at a minimum trap 96-97 in the 1/8 mile and 120-123 in the 1/4.

3360 is correct race weight.
car is street tuned
unsure on timing off the top of my head, ill check it out and get back to that
the car reads 1-2* of knock
unsure of exact shift points, ill figure out and get back to that
DA was 1100 that night
trans is good to go.
26" tire with 3.23 gears. and 15-18psi (tried a few different temps)
rear QA1's were set at 6-8 from full loose (tried a few different settings)
left off of idle when i hit my best time and sixty (7.68 w/ a 1.71 sixty), when i stalled it up to 3500 i spun, and stalling to 2500 felt like i spun a tad bit, but i had also changed the tire pressure and rear shocks.

When your car is setting at normal ride height you want the lcas going in a down hill slope toward the back of the car. If putting them in the lowest position will create that effect then try it. As far as rear shocks go i would probably be about a middle setting. I have DAs and I run mine at 4/4 on the rear. Each car will react differently but those are a few starting points.

okay, the first "setting" on the brackets make it sit correct then, but the bottom bracket would be even more of a down hill slope, will that matter?

I've read that you want a slight angle, and not an aggressive one.

If you have three settings/holes I would start in the bottom hole. remember you will have to adjust your pinion angle after changing the location.

What was the DA?

Are you 100% sure the scales were accurate?

Is it a lq4 or lq9? Do you know compression ratio (I bet it's low for the cam)?

Regardless of all of the things above I would hope to see at least 92mph and 95mph would be closer and if it's really that light a good combo should go a few mph fast than that.

DA was 1100.

i can never be 100% the scale is right but it's at a local scrap yard that has only been open for 6 months or so. the car is completely gutted and stuff cut out, so im sure it's pretty close.

It is a Lq4, heads have been milled to around 61-62 according the the previous owner, i did not have them machined to verify because he had them done before selling, supposedly. i am using MLS gasket, so i don't know what that puts me at for a compression ratio...?

Something has to be up.

You are 300lbs lighter, have better heads, similar cam, same converter, similar bolt ons, better aerodynamics, and better DA than my car on it's best pass and it went 7.48@94 on a 1.69 60ft.

yup, it's official...im burning my car to the ground! since the last outing, i added 6* of timing, got the AFR dead on, increased shift points to better suit my cam, and i installed front shocks (qa1 12 ways)....all to run the exact time i did last time. the weather was miserable with a DA of 2450, but i figured id still run a little better...

before my next outing, im going to buy a FAST 102 setup, my tuner thinks that my intake/tb is holding me back. and im going to chalk my tire to see if im spinning off of the line, because i can't tell since i am new to the track. my best slip last night was a 7.68@90.43 and a 1.68 sixty.

best run:
-front shocks set at 4 (i had them set at 2 first, but i was just messing around trying to get the best outcome) rears set at drivers 6, passenger 7
-tires at 16-17 psi with a pretty smokey burnout (mt et streets 275/50/15)
-launching at around 1800 rpm

Has not been on dyno. Just a ton of street tuning.
