Video time (again)
Imagine that, I'm posting another video
Want to start off by saying that the LS1Tech Atlanta race was more fun than should be legal And of course, who said it was all legal. With the small turn-out it resembled a wild family party and now we all know who the crazy relative is :cough: Madman :cough:
Calling the track slick during the early stages was an understatement. I probably made 6 passes and adjustments before I found the land of hook. Even the setting that stood the car up before didn't work, but with Madman's suspension tuning I was able to pull off back to back 1.34 short times. The track did respond to the strong encouragement by the LS1Tech staff to better prep the track. I never expected it to come around like it did and in the Extreme Mod finals it turned out to be a show. I crested my personal best on wheels up by lifting all 4 off the ground. In hind site, the prudent move would have been to make some final adjustments after the good track prep, but I don't think anybody expected it to hook after the early results.
During the pass, I shifted when the car got all the way up but she was too far gone to save the bumper. Kept my foot hammered to the floor and prayed for soft asphalt. The car pulled a second wheelie after impact and I ran it out just past the 1/8 before letting out. There wasn't any smoke I could see in the rear view mirror, but there was no way I was catching the ESP boys with their BIG mph top end blast.
Only visible scar is the leading edge of the oil pan has a mark from impact and that resulted in a crack in the side of the oil pan. It was a slow leak and I'm confident that the motor is just fine. There's not even a scratch on the headers.
There's a couple of more video angles that I'm working on getting from friends and I'll no doubt post those up too.
I have to say that Mike Norris (Next Level Performance) can make some serious power and Madman can get you to hook anywhere. My hat's off to all who helped out during the weekend and was glad to make some new friends.

Thanks for responses.
Tom - Madman has the car going dead straight. I really appreciate the R/T comment. I felt good on the Pro Tree and have been running that locally.
Noyzee - I was struggling to run a number all weekend and that made ESP's pass even more impressive. Their car has a LOT more in it. I'd say dragging the bumper and lifting the rear tires slows the car down a bit. It 60' a 1.48 with the rear tires and only went 6.55 in the 1/8th before letting out. The car has gone a best 1/8th of 6.18.
