Default Stock WS6 A4 results

Stock 2001 WS6 A4. Well, K&N filter only, stock lid. For those that like to get technical.

Thursday night, 1/8 mile, 80 degrees, 2400' DA. Full weight plus 10" sub and amp and nearly full tank of gas. Raceweight of 3670lbs.

Best time and mph:
1.998 60'
5.754 330'
8.766 1/8
83.33 MPH

Had 4 other runs that were 8.8s @ 82.

Saturday night. 1/4 mile. 78 degrees, 1900' DA. Removed spare/jack and front sway/brackets and 1/4 tank of gas. Est Raceweight of 3550lbs.

Best time and mph:
1.992 60'
5.655 330'
8.612 1/8
84.06 MPH
13.308 1/4
104.26 MPH

Had a few other 13.3s, a 13.4 and a 13.6 @ 103-104 MPH.

The car has 139,000 miles and seems to still be running strong. I can't wait for some better weather and some mods. Just hope the car holds up long enough.

Nice times, especially for that high milage. Get a stall and your 1/4 mile will drop big.

K & N filter gains no power so your bone stock in my book. Nice times for a stock automatic! You're a stall and drag radials away from 12's.

Here's some videos from both tracks. Keep in mind that my girlfriend is driving. The guy who hands out timeslips at the 1/8 mile track told her that she was sleeping at the tree, I agreed. She's like 120lbs so that really helps keep the weight down.

This is the 1/8 mile runs at Piedmont dragway.

And the 1/4 at Rockingham.

Jon,

I would not put a stall in a car with that high of mileage. I would say that would do the transmission in for sure.

Not bad times!

I don't really want to. I was thinking more along the lines of stall and tranny at the same time.

Some people pay the money for a K&N because it's reusable. When it gets dirty you just clean it. Personally I just spend the few bucks on paper filters each year so I don't have to clean it.

Many people have dynoed there cars with K&N filters, paper filters and no filter only to have no success. There just isn't any power gains to be had through the filter.

Very interesting.... I'm still paper filter and will be adding a lid soon... but I can't believe a lid and paper filter is equal to a lid and K&N considering the flow differences.... Hmmm

Some people say that a K&N will gain 0-5 HP. But most people who tested on a dyno gained either nothing or just 1-2 rwhp.

My best night at the track I was running 12.31-12.33 with my best being 12.310. As you can imagine I was dying for a 12.29 run. Being that close I figured removing the air filter could put me over the top. You can't outflow no filter at all!

I still ran 12.31-12.33. There just wasn't anything to be gained through the filter. At least not for my car. And even if a K&N filter did gain 1 or 2 rwhp it wouldn't be enough of a gain for me to want to deal with cleaning and oiling the thing on a regular basis. I prefer to buy paper and discard for a new one once a year.

But some people do claim to gain a few hp and don't mind the maintenance. To each his own.
