Here's some videos from both tracks. Keep in mind that my girlfriend is driving. The guy who hands out timeslips at the 1/8 mile track told her that she was sleeping at the tree, I agreed. She's like 120lbs so that really helps keep the weight down.
This is the 1/8 mile runs at Piedmont dragway.

And the 1/4 at Rockingham.

Some people pay the money for a K&N because it's reusable. When it gets dirty you just clean it. Personally I just spend the few bucks on paper filters each year so I don't have to clean it.
Many people have dynoed there cars with K&N filters, paper filters and no filter only to have no success. There just isn't any power gains to be had through the filter.

My best night at the track I was running 12.31-12.33 with my best being 12.310. As you can imagine I was dying for a 12.29 run. Being that close I figured removing the air filter could put me over the top. You can't outflow no filter at all!
I still ran 12.31-12.33. There just wasn't anything to be gained through the filter. At least not for my car. And even if a K&N filter did gain 1 or 2 rwhp it wouldn't be enough of a gain for me to want to deal with cleaning and oiling the thing on a regular basis. I prefer to buy paper and discard for a new one once a year.
But some people do claim to gain a few hp and don't mind the maintenance. To each his own.
