Burnt rubber on the rear quarterpanels.......
Ok...since I went to the track 2 weeks ago and lit up my tires through first and second and part of third on my way to a dreary tire spinning run of 15.1 I've had melted tire on the rear inside wheel wells and all over the painted edge of the wheel wells....how do you get it off???
I've tried bug and tar remover straight on for about a minute...no go. Bug and Tar with a cloth...uh uh, bug and tar with a light bristle brush...nope.
What have you guys found that works best?

Give Simple Green a shot, that gets all sorts of junk off. I use it to clean my military gear after a month covered in tank grease. If Simple Green doesn't help, try carb cleaner or engine degreaser on the inside of the quarter panels, have no idea what this might do to the paint of the lip. Wouldn't suggest using it there. Tilex might help ya, but it scratches the paint a little(abrasives in Tilex). Good luck bro.

carb/brake cleaner works great.. just make sure it doesn't hit your paint...
then invest in some "burn out guard" stuff... (thunder racing sells it) ... makes it alot easier to get rubber off !

I know you need help now, but has anyone heard of using vaseline as a preventative? I was told to rub a little vaseline all over the 1/4 panels before racing and the rubber will get caught in that like a spider web, then just rub off. As far as cleaning off the rubber you got? Maybe that orange degreaser stuff? I'd be a little concerned about taking the paint with it though.

i'd be careful not to get the orange with pumice in it, for the same reason to watch for the tilex....it has abrasives in it. i don't think the acidic properties of the orange stuff is enough to take the paint off, but it should help get the rubber off. test for paint friendliness in a less then noticible spot.

I used kerosene the first time I went to the track.Just use enough to clean it up and wash the car immediately afterward.I use burn out guard from Jegs now,it comes in a spray bottle.Put 2-3 coats on it and after racing you can rub the rubber off with your hand.

Have you tried a clay bar? I've had luck getting stubborn stuff off with that. Make sure you use soapy water for lubrication and keep kneading the clay as the gunk comes off, and it should work.

Do not use carb clean. You can use brake clean though. I usually go to car wash and use the press. washer with the wheel degreaser selection. Just spray it on then immediatly rinse with press. from a little bit of a distance. As long as you don't leave the degreaser on long, it won't hurt the paint.

personally, ive never had a problem with this! My burnt rubber came right off, cause i simply wiped it down with a wet towel immediately after the run! The sooner the better, but as far as the wheel well goes, well i did what i could with a pressure washer and then who cares anyway about the inside of the wheel well, cause its black and the rubber dont really show up anyway!
