Peak Power vs Broad Power Curve(1/4 mile)
I know what Torque and HP both are...and the theory that you can predict a cars 1/4 mile time with its rated Peak HP and weight of the vehicle...ET=6.29(weight/hp).I am not sure if that formula is accurate...because wouldnt it be more beneficial to have a car with a very broad torque curve and a little less peak power compared to a car with say higher peak power with a very narrow power curve???

Possibly(lol). Here is an article...I think that sums it up best.Wide Curve is more important than peak power.http://stockcarscience.com/blog/index.php?cat=94

Doesn't matter when most track dedicated cars (auto) are either stalled and or stalled/geared to the hilt and launch off of a T-brake.
Now, on the street from light to light, obviously the broad power curve will shine but only so much. We aren't talking about Supras with a 1k RPM power band. Eventually, if the race goes on long enough, the car with more peak power is going to pull by (so long as the lead wasn't greyhound bus lengths).
