Default Heating the tires

Got M/T 275x60x15 drag radials. Got SLP line lock. What is the best way to heat the tires? Start in 1st gear and shift or leave it in drive 3 and go through burnout? Thanks.

Start in 1st, go to about 6000, shift to 2nd, back up to 6000, hold about 3 seconds, let go of line lock button and drive it out of the water, but let off the throttle completely BEFORE the rear tires grab. You risk trans or convertor damage if you are still on the throttle when the rear tires grab.
