Default Percys Speedglass Windshield Installed, Pics Inside

I know alot of people have asked for pics of a Percys Windshield installed, myself included. I had mine installed last weekend by a friend, he has been doing glass work for alot of years. It was glued in using a factory molding and also screwed at the bottom per Percys instructions. Here's the pics

Bob, I don't have a scale where I keep the car but if I had to guess, easy 25 pounds. The factory glass is quite heavy.

Looks good. It's hard to tell from the smallish pics, but does the factory trim cover up the screws at the bottom?

Yes the factory cowl plastic hides the screws

I am guessing that the screws don't affect the waterproofing of the windshield?

1. I'm sure the cowl cover takes care of 99.9% of it and if paranoid,
2. could use a dab of silicon to seal it up too.

SCHWEET!!!

The rear hatch glass is 38# (no real difference with defroster or not). The "normal" Percy's for the rear, which I believe, is 3/8" thick, is ~17#, for 21# savings. Sounds about right for the front at 25# savings. I do not have either on the car...sold them a while back, but, I had a spare windshield and back hatch glass that I weighed.

I have one on my rear hatch. I didn't weight it, but I would guess more then 25. I have 2 hathes that I swithc on and off. My race one also deletes the spoiler for an extra 18#'s or whatever it is.

A local racer advised me against putting lexan up front. Said he hated it. Believe something along the lines of how sturdy it was @ speeds. Not sure what brand it was.

Rear...if I do one, I will do the pre-blacked out version...just got tired of it gathering dust. On the front, polycarb windows are not good in fires...saw a guy (not an F-car) have a nitrous backfire. The polycarb windshield caught on fire right away and was melting down on the dash and him as he was getting out. Plus, the factory front windshield is an intergral part of the vehicle structure, which I prefer, and will take more of an impact if...

Not trying to say that people who do a front are doing anything "wrong", as we all have different viewpoints on things. Take care. Dave

I was thinking about the rear, but saving weight from both would be nice.

What if it scratches, or how resistent is it to scratching? is there an easy way to buff it out?
