What is there to discuss?

Faster shifts, higher shift points.... better. No discussion needed.

If it's better than why does Yank recommend not using one?

this?

"Is a shift kit required or recommended?
10. Yank Performance Converters can achieve maximum performance and efficiency without the use of shift kits. Shift kits dramatically raise transmission line pressure to increase shift firmness. Increased shift firmness will not increase performance, but create unnecessary stress on the transmission and other drive-line components.

There are two kinds of shift kits. Ones that are mechanical and ones that run off line pressure (computer controlled transmissions). High line pressure can prematurely blow seals, etc.

There's nothing wrong with a mechanical shift kit.
