Ls1 for 300 buck!!! What to do?
Ok so last nite i go to the drags and i see a couple of fellow F-body owners so i decide to talk to them and see what they got under the hood. After all the talking some guy tells me that he has an ls1 block for 300. I got a 96 formula that im tryin to build as a ten second car wit an lt1. Would u guys drop the lt1 and go wit ls1? I need some input cuz i am really trying to consider any possibilities for the next week and i got the money for it already as well.

You can make the lt1 run 10's with just a mild head and cam package and a little spray. The ls1 will require alot of conversion such as the pcm and ls1's run a higher rail pressure so a fuel pump change would be in order. If you have headers on your lt1 you would have to buy ls1 headers so thats an added cost. I could go on and on with the little knick knacks you would run into. Just get with Lloyd Elliot and he will get you a good h/c package.

you need to completely redo wiring, LS1 K Frame, as well if it is just a block, a whole rotating assembly, heads, valve, train, intake, sensors, gaskets etc etc.
Not to mention you cannot BORE a LS1, so if the cyl are even scratched, you need to have it check to make sure it is ok to rebuild.
There is a lot more to this then you think. Go to the LS1 GEN III section for more info.

All that I found was LS1 engine harness that would operate sensors and engine functions, or a extended harness
What you describe is a Hone, not a Bore.
Also consider the OP infomation that he provided, its obvious if he was told it could go .030" over bore, would he argue!? Had it been a Gen I or Gen II SBC it would not be an issue, its a whole different kettle of fish.
Helping this guy NOT to make a 300$ mistake is the point I make.
LT1's can be made to go fast, I have done it, its not hard, just cost money and time.

The lt1 as of right now has notin other than a heavy duty timing chain and i have not gone in any further than that but i do got some 1.6 roller rockers for it as of now and that would be it. If i stay wit the lt1 it has 110xxx miles on it what do u guys think i should do wit it unless i should jus spray to have some fun in it as i start another block like i heard many ppl do.

I would stick w/ the lt1 unless you wanting to go really fast(which isnt hard w/ an lt1) but most of the aftermarket has now shifted to the LS series engines, I just dont see as much market for the lt1 stuff... but maybe its b/c i'm not really looking though. They are great engines.
I'de love to have a silver 96 z28 6 speed car.... I've always wanted one. I'de build a nice little 355 w/ some AFRs, new intake, trash the optispark and add a F1 procharger.

Depending on the health of that motor, and doing a complete tune up you can for very little money toss in a set of fresh springs, buy a single nozzle (or plate) wet kit, jet it between 100-150, correct set of plugs and a 255 LPH Fuel Pump and the basic Nitrous Safety Equipment can do a lot.
You would be suprised on how many stock to mild bolt on LS1 cars would start beating.
Ultimately Mod for Mod, you will lose a race vs a LS1 Fbody, but until your ready to buy and invest in a LS1 based car, just enjoy the one you have.

you do not need a iron block unless you are making over 900 hp these stock blocks are proven time and time again just make sure you balance your set up and run a ati balancer

Well after the roller rockers what would you guys do since i sticking with the lt1 and i do wanna try hittin atleast 12's by the end of the year. I am currently tryin to gut the car and i have all seats out except for the driver ofcourse. i have the carpet and all speakers out along wit some brackets but they some are jus a PITA to take off Im tryin to accomplish a good racing weight which some tell me is around 2950 or so which i know is alot of work but i got enough time for it.
