Default Solid axle c5

After breaking 2 diffs with in 6 runs I knew I had to do something.. I spoke to a few different shops to find out what my options are..

option 1... Go with an unproven zr1 diff and hope that it holds up..

option 2... Go with a solid axle and race my *** off..

option 3... Stay with the c5 IRS, detune and run the 10.0 index..

With my personality an addiction I knew I would not be happy with anything but a solid axle..

The next step was to decide on a shop that would give me the finest quality and customers service out there.. After talking to Bobby Carroll at Carrols Rod n Racecraft and seeing his shop my decision was made..

Here are a few pics of the build..

Looks like a torque arm in the first pic. Nice looking setup. I'm sure this is going to be a big mod when the new camaros come out.

Yes it is a torque arm..
The shop that built this is the same shop that did Paul Majors car and is based off of his set up. The best part of this is that this kit is a COMPLETE BOLT IN!!

Thanks. Here is more info on this kit.

Here is some more info on the kit..

This is the newest version of our C-5 / C-6 Straight Axle kit now available to be shipped directly to customers completely assembled and ready to bolt in. Modeled after Paul Major's race winning 7 second drag radial suspension, now anyone can have the same high horsepower race winning technology in their car.

This torque arm style suspension closely resembles the factory design built by GM in 3rd & 4th generation Camaros and Firebirds which is accepted as a factory suspension by some sanctioning bodies. Each kit is capable of handling any abuse that can be thrown at it with standard features like a fully braced housing, high quality hardware including 3 piece teflon lined rod ends, 35 or 40 spline Strange Race Axles, and 4130 Chromoly anti-roll bar for consistent and straight launches. Other benefits include an integral transmission mount to ease installation and a driveshaft loop for added safety. The kit works by mounting a powerglide transmission directly to the engine which can be supplied along with a torque converter by Rod & Racecraft with their kit or sourced by the customer on their own. Clearance work is needed to fit a powerglide transmission into the C-5 body however no permanent mounts are cut off and all stock components can be re-installed if you desire. Although the kit uses the factory mounting points, minor welding is required for added safety. All welding should be performed by a professional welder but the kit can be bolted in and rolled around to be transported to a professional. This kit can be installed with common hand tools and an electric grinder or brought to us for an in house installation.

Designed and fabricated in house at Carroll's Rod & Racecraft we can custom tailor each kit with a fabricated Ford 9" mild steel or 4130 Chromoly housing with a differential, gear ratio, shock & spring package, and brake kit that best suits your individual needs. We also offer other components to aid in the installation of your kit such as custom built fuel cells, fuel systems, wheel & tire packages, brake lines, matching front shocks, and matching front brakes. For turbocharged applications or added stopping power, dual rear caliper mounts are available. We also offer bolt on parachute kits and in house roll cage installations to compliment your new suspension.

Thanks,

Bob Carroll
