Question Short-belt & Front Sway Bar?

Is the short-belt and removing the A/C belt worth anything at the track? Does removing the front sway bar help with weight transfer and traction? Trying to get into the 12's next time I go to the track.

Peace

I am at an elevation of 4500ft and the DA is usually around +6500 ft. I ran a 13.4@107mph with a 2.3 60' before the H/C. Track prep really sucks.

Thanks

you should still be low 12s already with your set up. your 60ft is really killing you. about your queston. a stort belt and sway bar removal do work, but it works better on a 11 second car then a 13 second car. the SAM car reported like a .4 differents with the short belt but who really knows. all you can do is try it and see what happens.

Removing the front swaybar really helps the weight transfer, even on the street with street tires I could tell a HUGE difference. The front end easily comes up on every shift with the bar off, and that's on the street too!

I'll be trying both things at the track this weekend. I'll keep you posted on the results. Going to do 3 runs with the sway bar and belts on. And 3 runs with them off.

Peace

I noticed a HUGE difference on the street with the front sway bar off. I didn't get any track passes with it off because I broke my torque arm on the way to the track . I had removed the front sway bar at home before I left to go to the track. I got all my stuff ready for a great day of racing: threw my 16" ET STREETS, jack, and tool box in the car. Weather was beautiful...first week of August and the gates opened at 9:00am. The event was FORD VS GM! We headed out to the track and we or course played around the whole trip there. We had a few nitrous stangs, a couple WS6 LS1s, my SS and WS6(fiancee driving) and an LT4 CE Vette. I removed the front sway bar the night before so this was my first day without it....what a difference. I was driving the SS on the factory silver 17x9 SS rims with the FACTORY bald 275 F1s. We stopped at a local gas station for some beverages and we were on our way again (about 3-4 miles from the track gates). I pulled out onto the main road which was 55mph and I normally accelerated and shifted into 2nd. Once I shifted into 2nd my buddy got right up on my a$$, screwing around, so I stomped it. Upon speed shifting to 3rd I heard a loud-nasty noise from the rear. Then I car began vibrating extremely bad and making a terrible grinding noise. Immediately I thought I broke the Moser 12 bolt. I babied the car to the track and parked it in the lot. I jacked up the rear and guess what I found! I ripped the stock torque arm almost off the 12 bolt housing! I think the increase of stress from the added weight transfer is what caused the destruction. For my SS the removal of the sway bar made the nose come up on every upshift untl 4th gear. You may not notice a big difference with just nittos but if your track is good enough you will!
