Default need some help for better et's

I need some help trying to get better et times. Im new at this and trying to get my car to work, this is my second motor ( little more power ) but tracks almost the same times. Here is the run down
96 mustang - weight is 3436 with me in it
ls 408 pump gas, efi ( dyno queen ) 486rwhp @7200, 479rwtq @3400 or so
power is more at the top end
th400 with circle d 5200 stall ( for nitrous so day )
8.8 with 3:55 gears, posi
rear tires are e/t streets 26x10
best trap speed has been 11.6 @ 118mph
Last friday night drove to the track ( 60 miles ) and trans felt funny ( slipping ),12.2 et @ 115
trans will be coming out, what else could be done with trans ?

So, i think it should do better than high 11's, so what do i need to do ?

Absolutely it should be quicker than 11s... especially with that weight. What is your 60? Are you spinning?

My 60 was 1.9, little tire spin. Just going off the foot brake. Motor doesn't do to good under 3 grand.

Your 60 is slow for that et and especially slow for what you should run. I think that's a half second you could gain right there. To give you an idea, I just had a 1.99 60' with stock tires at 22 psi in a stock trans and rear with 273s in my 00 Z28. This is a 12.80s car. So you should be smoking me by the 60' mark.

Is that weight with you in the car? If so it should be low 7s. Something is happening the first part of your runs. Are you spinning bad? Is your converter slipping since it's so lose?

Go to around a 4.10 rear gear, and a 28" tire. You will probably drop straight into the 10's. What was your 1/8th mile time and mph for the 11.6 run?

Agree. That's a wicked stall speed. I wonder if it's slipping.

Well the trans was slipping alittle in third, I have a cooler but driving 60 miles on the freeway at 60-65 mph sucks and with a 5200 stall I was thinking it got hot. It had time to cool down becouse sat in line for 3 hours to run 1 time. But even with other motor ( 468whp ) still same 1.9 60 and best of 11.6

I think the slipping isn't from heat. It's from the stall being too big. In other words the converter isn't full engaged because the stall speed is so high.
I've seen 4l60e cars on the dyno slip with high stalls like yours even past their stall speed.
I had a Chevelle with a th400 that had this very issue. It wasn't trans heat, it was too much stall for my application. I wonder if a 4500 converter would be better?

Do you think I would benfit from a trans brake and lanch at a higher rpm ? On my phone so bare with me. The last motor I had a 3600 stall, this stall is for my other solid roller motor and I will be installing nitrous. You think lower stall would be better ? Only going with a 100 shot or so one this motor. And I do have 4.10 gears laying around but they suck on the freeway

I think something is up with that converter. You need to take advantage of that 479 tq @3400. Something somewhere is leaving too much on the table.

Idk. I don't know if it's spinning or if it's converter slippage, so I hate to give advice that costs you $$$.
I would call circle d and talk to them and have a knowledgeable friend watch you make a few passes.
Sorry I can't give you a solid answer... you have a unique combo that I'm not an expert on. Hopefully someone here has seen this

Thank you for your input, I do know something doesn't feel right half way to the track with trans or maybe converter, I will call circle d in the morning.
