Default 1/8 timesfor 3.42 vs 2,73

I was just wondering what kind of gain I will see if I changed out my stock 2.73 gearing for 3.42s? Any ideas? Thanks for any info you guys can give.

I think a 2.73 gear and a big ol coverter would be an awesome 1/8 mile combo for a stock setup.

The 2.73 would make it easier to hook and you will finish in 2nd gear. The huge converter tp4400 or similar will get you off the line and get the rpm's up.

I used to run a vig2800/2.73 combo with just a couple boltons and nittos and ran a best of 8.03 @ 89 1.82 60ft.

I have since switched to a tp4400/3.73 combo and do nothing but spin and and shift into 3rd about 100 ft out from the lights. I have run a best now of 7.71 @ 90 spinning for about 15 ft out. 1.7 60ft.

Getting ready to do my heads and cam and will be addressing the gearing issues since all I race is 1/8 mile. Will either go super low or raise it up and run through in second.

I would defilantly go converter before I swapped gears and then decided on what you needed based on track conditions, future mods, etc.

Do the converter for and then you might like those gears. Converter will dropp ALOT more ET than gears alone
