Default What should I run?

Hey guys. I have a 2001 Z28 with a 6speed. I have a Whisper Lid, K&N Drop in, SLP loudmouth exhaust, and a Pro 5.0 shifter. What should I be expected to run at the track? Given the fact that Im a good driver as well.

My friend has a Z28 with the exact same mods, except his is a 2002 model. He ran a 12.68@109mph with a 1.8x 60' time. My friends have been hassling me all night saying my dyno results are fake, etc.

I dynoed at 323.7RWHP, and 346.7RWTQ. They are saying that this was corrected to crank HP which I know it isnt. Nick (friend with 2002 Z28) had his dynoed at a different speed shop and only made 3 more RWHP and 2 less RWTQ. Also at the track he was running on Nitto 555R's.

When we raced (before my lid, filter, and shifter) he would pull half a length every gear that we shifted, otherwise our cars were IDENTICAL. So, in the outcome, he would be between 1.5-2 cars in front of me (before my new mods).

I was just curious because my friends are being **** about my car. My other friend said they are only 310 (because he reads magazines) and said there is no way it would make more power at the wheels. He said there is no way I have over 330 CRANK HP. I also told him about the 2003 Cobra that they only rated it at 390HP but Fast Ford Magazine dynoed it at 404 at the WHEELS. Can I get any help? Am I totally wrong? Thanks.

John

IT was a simple question. I guess I will rephrase it.

What are LS1's with good drivers and SIMILAR mods running in the 1/4 with a 6speed?

If I wanted smart *** remarks I would have posted on ls1.com. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Hey dude, When I first went to the track, I had those same mods, Direct flow intake and Random tech exhaust. My best was a 12.9 at 109 with a 2.0 or 2.1 60 foot. That was my first time EVER being to a track, My first run was like a 13.2 and I just got better from there.
Soon enough, you will be in 11's
Take care man, "mod er up"

BTW: I had an LS1 intake at the time "2000 model"

Your friend has an LS6 intake which should be good for a few more ponies, not much.
Also, you might want to run Nittos or something in that nature because you will VERY quickly learn that your 1/4 mile time is 90% launch.

In my opinion, don't ask these questions, because it only sets you up for a
disappointment.Depending on your weight, you should trap @108-110mph.
ET varies on 60ft. time.Take it to the track and have fun.
Expect to be slow,hope to be fast.That's my Motto. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Thanks for the replies. My main reason was because I know I can pull these times and I sent this link to a friend. He said "Car and Driver rated it at 13.9 with a PROFESSIONAL driver, and they DONT have more than 310HP stock". This is comming from a corvette owner. When his car is done with its paintjob I'm gonna tear him a new ***!

His best was 13.4@107. I think he is mad that a Camaro will whoop his ****.

I know that GMHTP got a Camaro SS in the high 12's. But Motor Trend people need to learn how to drive.

They had a 13.9 because of the extra weight of monitoring equipment, granny shifting, not dumping the clutch (slower starts), higher elevation, not deflated tires, etc.

They dont take these into consideration,..pretty much means if you let my mom drive my car she will get a 13.9 out of it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
